Voodoo Crystals - Rough

"Rough" is the latest EP from Voodoo Crystals, released by Vertigo Cult. Just like it's lead video single "Nerve", the EP is oozing with this cyberpunk, dystopian 80s electro-nostalgia, blendding minimal EBM, dark electro and glitchy witch house into a sick six track capsule teleported from the days of future past. One of Adam's best for sure!

Omar Ahmad - Inheritance • Remixed

Omar Ahmad's debut LP "Inheritance" from last year got a remix treatment and release via the ever-reliable AKP Recordings. "Inheritance • Remixed" boasts eight spaced out tracks, featuring reworks from Sam O.B., Tammy Lakkis, Ki Oni, Solpara, Otodojo, Andrew Charles Edman, Kirin McElwain and Val Bess. The opening edit by Sam O.B. stole me straight away with it's pusling hip-hop instrumental in the vein of AFTA-1. Deconstructed and almost-meditative minimal beat from ACE brings to mind Leaving Records' classics, while Kirin's take on "Sham Oasis" feels like it was made for a theatre stage. The album is full of twists and turns in terms of genres, so make sure to give this one a go - it'll be worth it.

The iconic duo Mary Shelley & The Implicit Order are back cooking, 12 years after their last collaboration LP "A Good Lie". "It's Slippery In Here" is oozing with tension and trance-like euphoria at the same time, think Matrix soundtrack for example. Ace! Stream here.

Human Hollow - Medic

There's something special in Oregon's waters because the state has consistently produced a number of amazing synth and darkwave bands over the last two decades. Check out this compilation for starters. Human Hollow is a new dark electropop act on Portland's scene, composed of Austin McKee (Nomenclature) and Lucia Luna (We Are Like The Spider/Unicorn Domination). Inspirations behing the project: David Lynch, Boy Harsher and TR/ST, should give you some idea of what to expect from their debut single "Medic", but watching how this track was made (in just over 20 minutes!) made me appreciate this catchy, postpunk-tinted synth-pop jam even more. Stay Bless - The Other Side Of Paradise

Surprise album with improvisations and sketches created between 2020-2024 from George Cassavetes's Stay Bless project. I've beeen a fan of George's creatve outputs since his witchy FAMILY days, so it's always a good day when something signed off by him drops. "The Other Side Of Paradise" is an mini-LP filled with fleeting moments and soft electronic pop. Proper chill Sunday music. Free to download to.

PADO is a minimal coldwave trio from Japan. Their debut album "Gazook" just dropped on tape via Solitude Solutions and it's a sick treat for fans of raw, lo-fi post-punk and skeletal darkwave. Sick stuff.

Restricted - In Reverse

For some reason I cannot upload images to Blogger, will try to add cover tomorrow. "In Reverse" is the new album from Restricted, released on CD by British label Wormhole World. Slow burning, minimal synth painitings, sort of in the vain of Canadian musician Bernardino Femminielli.

Courtney Cole - U Sound Like A Bitch

Courtney Cole flipped/chopped/rescored and rapped over Ethel Cain's "Gibson Girl", rendering the original unrecognizable. Remixes from the Stay Healthy crew are always something else, and this one is no different. Stream here.

Redmuun - Origin

Redmuun is an alias of a witch house producer Jared Mooney, hailing from Halls, TN. He's been honing his craft since 2017, initially under the name Venturrus, and since 2021 as Redmuun. His debut album "Silent Anomaly" came out earlier this Summer, but for now I wanted to share his latest single "Origin", promoted today by the Séance crew. Led by big, spaced-out synths and chopped up vocals, it's a dark and cunning track, that seems perfect for a horror game walkthrough video or for scoring the landing of an alien spacecraft in a sci-fi movie. Pictureplane does darkwave, wow, the vocals are unrecognizable. Love it.

Old Amica – Tiden Far

"Tiden Far" is the lead single from Old Amica's upcoming album "För Alltid". Beautifully cinematic ambient experience, its mood brings to my mind some of the tense scenes from the movie Interstellar. The new album will be released via Dronarivm on August 9th.
