Filmy Ghost & The Implicit Order - Horrorlands

Excellent collaborative album from Humanfobia's Filmy Ghost and The Implicit Order. "Horrorlands", an eerie journey into the world of dark ambient, witch house, experimental electronic music and screwed drone, was originally released in 2022 via Humanfobia's own label Internet Daemon, but now it got a complete reissue with bonus intro and outro produced by TIO. In the words of Anthony: "In 2022 Sábila Orbe AKA Filmy Ghost cut-up and rearranged I/O's entire discography in a wonderful and creepy out of this world way." Nuff said, great record from start to finish, highly recommended.

Morgan Hall - Hormonic B.C.

I've been waiting for this release for months, even sice Morgan first announced it on his Instagram. "Hormonic B.C." is finally out, thanks to Bent Window Records. Consisting of six compositions, the EP will take you on a dystopian journey though dark ambient, power electronics and droney noise, painting vivid sonic pictures as you travel across the remains of the tracks. No wonder CRAVE and Hall announced a collaboration in the near future, you can hear how both artists inspire each other with their subjective takes on noise music and sound design. Amazing tape.

Vascha - Shockmuzik (I)

Vascha kicks off 2024 with "Shockmuzik (I)", a collection of original compositions written for 'SHOCKMUZIK' live audiovisual performance that took place during Brighton University's Graduate Show. Mix of sound design, deconstructed club music, post-witch, laser-like drum arrangements, all mixed into a heavy cocktail of unique sonic experience. Because it's a concept project (of sorts), it's probably best enjoyed in one sitting.

Curses - Next Wave Acid Punx Deux: Secret Cuts

End of last year Curses released the much anticipated follow up to his 2021 epic compilation "Next Wave Acid Punx", entitled "Next Wave Acid Punx Deux". A series of weird events somehow made me totally miss out on this main dish, but before I cover it here, I wanted to share its appetizer (or a dessert if you wish) - the "Secret Cuts" compilation. Twenty tracks that for some reason didn't make the cut for "Deux", luckily found their way to Bandcamp earlier this month. The line-up here is quite amazing, besides Curses who delivered one of my fav tracks "Get Lost", we get Chrome Corps with a zany EBM single, Ghost Cop with their anthem "You Can Never Go Home", acid techno from Günce Aci, spaced out remix of Paresse by Guy Tallo, and minimal tekkno from Moderna (plus much, much more). Fans of the new beat revival and the previous edition of "Next Wave Acid Punx" will be in love. If this is a compilation of "off cuts", I cannot wait to check out the full release. Tip!

Dirtr4t is on a roll with new tracks that slay consistently. "Nurofen" is his latest single that dropped on Soundcloud today, I cannot wait for an album from this dude. Stream here.

Old Amica - Fyr

I reviewed (and recommended) Old Amica's previous single "Tuvåkra" back in October, but for some reason never posted about their album "Fyr". Obviously, I really, really loved the lead single, I do thing it's their best cut from the album, but that doesn't change the fact that "Fyr" is something special on its own. From the early notes of the opener "Saida" until the closing soft edges of "Till Slut", you should be able to immerse yourself in Old Amica's sublime mix of ambience and soothing atmospheres, often lead by modern classical piano and backed by a number of one-off eclectic instruments and humming vocals. The whole album feels like flipping through a family photo album, sandwiched between your grandparents and listening to the captivating stories about their lives. If you like Sigur Rós or Foxes In Fiction this is something for you.

Dr Who Dat? - The Fog

Jneiro Jarel is back with his beat-oriented project Dr Who Dat. After a number of health issues he's been fighting with, I'm so glad to hear new stuff from this talented cat. "The Fog" is the new single from Jneiro, released ahead of the 15th year anniversary of his previous album "Beyond 2morrow", which will see a deluxe reissue with some bonus cuts shortly. Male Tears - Sex On Drugs // video

Valentines single from Male Tears. Loving the beat, the vocals sound a bit off. I had the same problem with their last album Krypt, the guys need someone with mixing talent to lift those tracks up.

"My Daughter Will Be The Mother Of God" is a new mixtape from E_Death that dropped a few days ago, This was originally a scrapped version of her next album, but (thankfully) she decided to share it with her fans. Icredible tape, sounding like an amalgamation of all her past projects mashed into a totally ill bomb. The Broods remix in the shape of "I Don't Wanna Just Be Fine" is just on another level. Humanfobia - Ghostly Radio Station

18 minutes and 20 seconds of haunted soundscapes, foggy dark ambient and cosmic drones from the Chilean duo Humanfobia. The title "Ghostly Radio Station" nails the mood perfectly, but the music also summons visions of a lost-found recording that tells a story of an unmanned spaceship floating freely in space because its crew got slowly consumed by madness. Excellent atmosphere building from start to finish, brings to mind Mater Suspiria Vision droney works but seems to be more scarce and delicate. Great stuff, download it (as always for free) here.

St. Digue - Hatebreeders

Absolutely ace cover from Suffer Ring, taking the ick from one of the best songs from Crystal Castles and giving it a new life. The footage comes from 1995 Hong Kong movie "Fallen Angels".

Cilice - Searching For The Memories They Hold

I'm not a huge noise or power electronics fan, but when it's done as good as this latest tape from Cilice you have to pay attention. Released by UK-based drone / ambient label Nouvelle Gaze, "Searching For The Memories They Hold" is a captivating sonic excavation and exploration of lost thoughts, images and experiences. Walls of sound collapse, clash, disintegrate and morph into different entities while atmospheric, ambient like tones float effortlessly in the background. Listening to this album feels like watching that famous Terminator 2 dream scene of a busy playground and the whole world burning around it.

AFTA-1 - Oasis Meditations​/​Ritual Step

Surprise Bandcamp Friday drop from Afta-1, two mellow beats or as he calls them "healing sounds from the archive". "Oasis Meditations" is sitting on the edges of jazz, new age and leftfield beats, while "Ritual Step" takes on deconstructed techno through hip-hop and broken beat lenses. Can't go wrong with that dude.
