Japanese label TAZUNA-KAI released a debut 7" single from experimental producer, vocalist and DJ セーラーかんな子 (Sailor Kannako). It's a bold release that sits on the edge of deconstructed club music, minimal electronica and spoken word. "Kanna-chan" stole my heart from the get-go, thanks to the classic Luniz sample paired with shouted manifesto. It contrasts with calmer "Hachi-chan", an ambient synth production accentuated with subtle percussion. Interesting debut, looking forward to more tracks from her and hopefully an album in the near future.
