Mater Suspiria Vision - Space Necronomicon

My copy of Mater Suspiria Vision's latest multi-media release arrived today, including an artbook and a CDR, both inspired by CdX's latest movie "Space Necronomicon". I didn't purchase the movie itself, but this package is a fantastic deal on its own. The book looks absolutely beautiful and includes a ton of amazing artworks, all generated by AI and pitched and edited by Cosmotropia. The album itself is really, REALLY good - trippy, slow-burning space nightmare that feels like a delirious journey into a world made of mirrors. It actually may be my favourite album from MSV in a long while (and I really loved "Kosmische Musik" from 2 years ago). If I can recommend anyone to buy only one album from the collective, this is it, especially with the book for the audio/visual experience.

There are four cover variants to pick from, so go for your favourite: design A, B, C and D. Alternatively get the digital here. Stream the record down below.

Voodoo Crystals - Prism Communictation

New album from Voodoo Crystals arrived out of nowhere and took over my speakers. Adam describes "Prism Communication" as (and I'm paraphrasing here) an attempt at manipulation of various sine waves for the sake of sonic exploration. Fourteen tracks deep, the record is filled with acid synth mutations and cyberpunk witchhouse, but honestly it's the small bits like juke-inspired drum arrangements or delirious 90s rave elements that make this album so fun to experience.

Download the "Prism Communictation" here, but tbh you should support the man as much as you can. Stream below.

Little Annie meets Night Foundation - Inertia

Absolutely addictive dub transmission from Night Foundation, featuring vocals from Little Annie, just dropped on Noir Age in the form of a limited edition 7" single. Super trippy, deep and alluring. Brilliant collaboration, recommended! You can buy the record (and digital) here.

Nights Templar - Orchid Blush

Nights Templar is back with a new minimal synth EP "Orchid Blush". Four tracks of probably most pop-skewed coldwave tracks he's done so far - very mellow and catchy. Those synth melodies are really good, and take me back to early 2010s andd the blogspot era with their lo-fi appeal. Fans of NT's will be pleased to know there's a cassette tape too, so be fast because those won't last for much longer...

Get the EP here, stream down below.

New Age Doom - Remix the Universe (Extended Edition)

So last year New Age Doom released the remix album of their amazing collab with Lee Perry. Honeslty I slept on that one, and barely touched it on the blog (I did manage to write about the insane remix from Andy Morin though). Fast forward to March 2023 and We Are Busy Bodies decided to unleash an extended version of said record - with more edits and remixes for everyone's listening pleasure. Psych, drone, free jazz, beats, dub, metal and god knows what else are all condensed into this incredible 17-track capsule of dopeness. Listening to all those versions made me even appreciate the originals from New Age Doom and Scratch even more. Support!

Buy the new remix album here, stream this mammoth below.

Trigger Moral - Lia$$e 2 (Helen Island)

Totally radical mixtape from French audio wizard Trigger Moral, that feels like a de- and reconstructed collage of ambient soundscapes, vocals samples, field recordings and contemporary electronica. His compositions give the impression that they were elaborately crafted with attention to each sound woven into their DNA, which also makes them feel fragile and fleeting. Beautiful stuff, especially the Timbaland-sampling "No Witness" and celestial take on Alice Deejay's "Better Off Alone". This one will be appreciated by fans of PAN's "Mono No Aware" compilation or Malibu (on vaporwave'd steroids) - give it a shot!

Support Trigger Moral by copping this on tape here, and stream it below.

James Ferraro - Last American Hero

The second release in the Restoration Series from James Ferrao is his hypnagogic americana classic "Last American Hero". Originally released on tape in 2008, then reisssued on vinyl by Olde English Spelling Bee, this album remains one of his most celebrated releases. Equally droney and trippy, this the kind of music you'd hear in a petrol station in the middle of Midwest's nowhere. Glad this is getting proper digital reissue.

Support JF by buying this album here. Stream below.

CRAVE / Sniper Bait - Split

This one has been teased for a while, two personalities from John on one split single. Love the Sniper Bait's noise explorations that are paired with some lost radio recordings. CRAVE's "Sulfur Smuggler" is a dope, dreampunk-inspired (consciously or not) beat that goes surprisingly well with Sniper's track. Win once again, this guy cannot miss. Grab it here.

Spike Hellis - Flight (Pressure Mix)

Minimal acid/electro remix of Spike Hellis' "Flight", a sick delight. Cop here.

Curses - Boundless feat. Jennifer Touch // video

New video single for "Boundless" from Curses incredible last year's "Incarnadine". Featuring Jennifer Touch both on vocals and in the clip. Blade Runner vibes!

Tetsüo ii - Tetsüo ii

Fantastic drone/krautrock project from two Canadian producers: Dave Duval (also known as Zeit) and Scott Saad (also known as Void Ant). The self-titled Tetsüo ii record is a deep space travelogue, oscillating between kosmische synths, free-gliding tones and heavy drones, constantly evolving as it progresses. To a certain degree it does feel like a conceptual album, a lush cosmic voyage into desolate and hazy ambient soundscapes, that occasionally steers away from its dreamlike course to explore hazy and ominous sounding orbits nearby. One to zone out with during a late-night listening session.

James Ferraro - Postremo Mundus Techno-Symposium

James Ferraro is diving into his back catalogue and archiving it all on his Bandcamp! Dubbed Restoration Series 1.0, this process aims is to preserve his older and more obscure works (since most were released on CDRs). New Age Tapes' 2008 release "Postremo Mundus Techno-Symposium" is the first one to get the treatment, head over here to check this DIY/abstract slab of mutant music.

Meet Me After Sundown - White Men

New single from Meet Me After Sundown, production here is impeccable, fantastic track. Fuck the patriarchy, dismantle white supremacy. You can download "White Men" here, but better yet support with whatever you can and buy it.

Nuxx Vomica - Easy Go // video

Techno/EBM mutation from Nuxx Vomica, off her freshly released EP "FTEV". The video was directed by Madeline Seely. Out now on Synthicide (tapes sold out though).

DJ Kutmah - Live In Berlin

Week ago Kutz was meant to play a show in Berlin, but unfortunately that go cancelled due to weather. Not to waste the selection he prepped, he decided to put this mix up on Bandcamp. And I'm glad he did because the tape, divided into four parts, slays. Part 1 in particular got my attention with its smoky, psych and lo-fi vibe. Really solid mixtape for any beats fans. Support!

Sofia Reta - In Weal And Woe

Surprisingly sexy new EP from Sofia Reta, dedicated to all the queer folk out there. Xavier has delivered his most club-friendly release to date with "In Weal And Woe", where sultry synths and pulsing beats will make your head nod from the start. Each track has its own unique ecosystem of influences that contribute to this project, mixing and mashing genres with a playful precission. The guitar demo version of "Sadist" is something else! Daring, absorbing, honest and (safe) fun. Recommended!

Purchase it here, and stream after the jump.

John Atkinson - Energy Fields

John Atkinson is an ambient explorer and musique concrète practitioner based in Brooklyn, New York who made his name in the noughties as a member of the experimental rock band Aa. In recent years his output is mainly focused on recording and processing field recordings, curated and shared via his Bandcamp page. Most recently he released a collaborative album with Patrick Taylor as East Portal on AKP Recordings. AKP actually decided to nurture this relationship and put out his latest solo record "Energy Fields", a sonic response to our collective dependence on fossil fuels and overdue transition to renewables. Recorded during Atkinson's residency at the Ucross Foundation in Wyoming – the largest coal-producing state in America, the sounds that form the four compositions on this album serve as a portal to a new tomorrow. Life signals of the local habitats are contrasted with pulsing heartbeats of the machines, while industrial drones, bleeps and hisses are arranged into ambient-like pieces that could easily serve as an opening sequence to Blade Runner. The result is sublime, slightly anxious but always captivating.

You can buy "Energy Fields" here, and stream it below.

Harsh R - Seek Comfort

Harsh R is an experimental solo output of Avi Roig from Olympia, WA who released his music on New York Haunted and Reclusion Records in the past. His latest album "Seek Comfort", which premiered February 3rd, found its home at Phage Tapes and ended up being pressed on a limited edition vinyl. Described as "an album about disappearing and being disappeared", the LP is a noisy collage of post-industrial raw emotions, EBM-influenced beatmaking, synthpunk attitude, coldwave minimalism and dark synth-pop melodies. But it's the unexpected sax popping up in "Art You My People?" that steals the show for me. That being said, "Hiding Place" is such a banger, I've had it on repeat for days now, adrenaline shot. Make sure to also visit Avi's instragram page, his photos from various hiking excursions are just breathtaking.

Buy the album directly from Harsh R here, or from the label here. Stream below.

Witcha - Nobody / Amethyst

C. Hun Jang is back with a new EP from his Witcha side-project, a natural continuation of his work started on "EP I" from last year. Dark electro and late-nite synthwave on "Nobody" are paired with witchy atmospheres on "Amethyst", only to be juxtaposed with contemporary ambient music on track three (check out the video for "If I Am to Disappear Tomorrow"). Really good release, fans of Psychic Rites, Justice and Grouper should pay attention to this man.

Grab the EP here, and stream it below.

nevada_jerky_gurl23 - stealth_stimulation.key

Futuristic reptilian synth-ambient from nevada_jerky_gurl23 will see a lathe release on Paso Inferior soon. Limited to 36 units, the records can be pre-ordered here, and digital here. Stream the first single above.

Exome - When The World Ends I Will Breathe A Sigh Of Relief

"When The World Ends I Will Breathe A Sigh Of Relief" is the first release from Paso Inferior Tapes that was not produced by its founder John. Exome is an experimental noise musician from Italy, and this album seems like a perfect introduction to his bone-crushing and captivating world of power electronics. One hour of gritty textures and industrial soundscapes clashing with each other, stuff that I'd normally not be into, but Exome manages to grab my attention with an underlying narrative that lurks in the dark alleys of his sound. Fascinating stuff. Grab a CD if you can, those shouldn't last long...

Dirtr4t - Fkn Itchy

New mixtape from the Stay Healthy camp. 20 minutes of unreleased tracks, demos, remixes and mash-ups. Fire.

Male Tears - Sleep 4ever // video

New video single from Male Tears, ahead of their upcoming LP "Krypt". Honestly, this one is really disappointing, probably their first track I'm not feeling, the vocals in particular are not mixed too well. Love the video though.

Svnset - Locked In The Abyss

Phonk has officially took over witch house. A decade ago it was trap drum rolls that dominated the scene, and by dominated I mean plagued. In the recent years a noticeable shift has been happening, first by mixing more metal sounds, then hardcore and gabber, and now phonk. Svnset is the latest producer who decided to update his sonic store, and "Locked In The Abyss" is his first EP that explores those territories. Witched phonk and guitar-led trap, stretched across three tracks - all really well executed and bouncing. Good shit, and free, as most stuff on EK4T3. Support.

Download the EP here, stream below.

E_DEATH - Thru The Heart (Kmado Edit)

Kmado is a Lisbon-based producer that makes eclectic post-internet electronic music. Quick look at his Soundcloud (and the remixes he commited) reveals a number of influences his style is drawing from: Charli XCX, 100 gecs and Evita Manji among others. But what brought him to me to my attention is the recent edit of E_DEATH's opening track from "Cloud Spires". His take on "Thru The Heart" peels some extra layers from Salem's original, revealing the vocal sample a bit more, ditching the beats and brings the ambient mood to the forefront. True gem.

Tre Flip - Wide Open EP

Something special right here. I've discovered Tre Flip's music thank's to my recent favourite Sad Madona, who happend to feature on one of the tracks here. "Wide Open" consists of five tracks of melodic darkwave, synth pop, post-punk and shoegazing - all very emotional and oddly familiar. Fans of aforementioned Sad Madona will love this one.

Grab the EP here, stream below.

Beau Wanzer - 31 Jingles EP

Life is a box of chocklate right? Totally unexpected and equally twisted new EP from BW, thirty one 1-minute shorts that sound like flipping through TV channels late at night in the 90s. As always raw, gloriously random and fucking radical. Love this.

Get this expanded EP here, dive into it below.

Saturday 4 March 2023

Dog99 - Nursery

Chase ventures into future ambient/deco club territories with his new track "Nursery" that just dropped on Soundcloud. It takes me back to Burial's "Rival Dealer" days, very celestial mood throughout the whole duration, but keeps you on the toes as well due to a slightly menacing tone lingering in the back. More to come I guess?

Friday 3 March 2023

Buzz Kill - Fascination

The titular track from Buzz Kull latest album "Fascination" has now an official video. Dark EBM vibe that takes me back to that amazing PC World record. Order Buzz Kill's album here.

Mater Suspiria Vision - Dark Side Of The Space

One day exclusive from Phantasma Disques and Mater Suspiria Vision. "Dark Side Of The Space" is the new release from the band that features unreleased tracks from the "Space Necronomicon" soundtrack. The CD comes with an artbook called "The Polaroid Necronomicon" that includes exclusive footage, and nearly 100 obsure morbid photos generated by the AI. Order here.

STRFLL - Drawn 2 U // video

Lifed from his 2022 mixtape, presented above is "Drawn 2 U" - STRFLL's new video single that sonically hovers somewhere at the witch house, wave and cinematic bass music intersection.

Vermes - Lamento Del Artrópodo

Sonic glitzkrieg from Vermes, their new single "Lamento Del Artrópodo" is a blackened synth-punk joint that's designed for mosh pits. Listen at your own risk.

King Dude - Nursery Rhymes

A unique concept album from the doom bard King Dude. Neofolk reinterpretations of nursery rhymes and lullabies, recorded for and with Dude's daughter in mind, but as he admits also as a re-introduction to the original scripts of those texts. At first I was a bit skeptical, but this is quite comforting record and grows on you as you delve into this folkish world.

You can cop the album here, and stream the whole lot below.
