V.A. - All Blurred Out Vol. 2

All Blurred Out Records are back with volume two in their compilation series. Just like the previous volume, part two is also accompanied by a zine created by the artists from the label. Fifteen tracks deep, the album features tracks from VeXe †, Three Wishes, Pharmacist, tetohundred, dancing in slow motion, STRFLL, Luke Petet, COOK, jaw, zero and CHARLATAN. Expect anything and everything that could crawl out of a drawer labeled post-witchhouse. Really dope stuff.

Buy the digital and the zine here, and stream "All Blurred Out Vol. 2" below.

German Army - A Wave Of Self Turmoil

Released in March via Brazilian Draq Distro, "A Wave Of Self Turmoil" is one the latest albums from incredibly prolific and enigmatic duo German Army. Ambient and drone soundscapes clash with noise and industrial approaches here, forming an album that is eclectic and never predictable.

Tapes are available for purchase here (but the shipping may be a bit pricey). Stream below.

Three Wishes - Bag

Three Wishes came to my attention thanks to his mellow synth drag opener for the great All Blurred Out compilation that came out earlier this year. Based in Victoria, Canada, he's been slowly putting out music on Soundcloud (which at the moment boasts five tracks), but with his involvement with the aforementioned album, I hope we will see some more stuff being published. His latest production, "Bag", is a rad remix of Gucci Mane & Migos' track "I Get The Bag", replacing the original minimal trap production with a mix of post-witchhouse and hip-hop beatmaking, making the verses livelier and punchier. I really love this take and I'm looking forward to All Blurred Out vol 2 which should come out soon.

Junior - Nightime

Junior is an alias of one Devin Finucane, a rapper and producer based in Colorado (based on my shady reasearch). He hasn't released much as of yet, but what's out is really rad, sitting at the intersection of SALEM-flavoured syruppy witch house and thoed mumble rap, that may also appeal to early Fostercare fans. The Jack Donoghue inspiration is ripe here, but somehow Junior manages to have his own thing going on, both in terms of the beats and delivery. One to look out for, make sure to check out his other tracks on Soundcloud here.

Automatic - Excess

Los Angeles-based electronic post-punk trio Automatic (Izzy Glaudini on synths and lead vocals, Lola Dompé on drums and vocals, and Halle Saxon on bass and vocals) have dropped their sophomore album today. "Excess" is released via Stones Throw and consists of ten spaced out post-punk jams, that manage to channel psych rock trippiness and at the same time maintain serious pop appeal. It's an album that feels like a journey through three decades of music, with its hippie charm and 70s rebel attitude, both immacutalely injected with 80s kitschiness on their fringes. This one will make you dance at parties and in your rooms. Love it.

The album is out on vinyl in a variety of formats that can be pre-ordered here or if you're based in the UK from Rough Trade. Stream below.

CRAVE - Jigsaw

CRAVE is back with "Jigsaw", an eight minutes long haunting piece that sits somewhere between droning loops, dragged spoken word and ambient soundscapes, all of which give the composition an eerie feeling of uneasy peacefulness. In the words of Dale Cooper "I have no idea where this will lead us, but I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange".You can purchase this stand-alone single here.

Flying Lotus - The Room

After last year's "Yasuke" Flying Lotus is back with a double single "The Room". Featuring Los Angeles-based soul singer Devin Tracy, both tracks have this sweet, Sunday afternoon mellow mood. The titular track is a smoky and slower jam, giving off Twin Peaks' Roadhouse vibe, while "You Don't Know" on side B manages to summon some of that early Lo drum pattern, which sounds just perfect. Chill.

The single is available to purchase from Bandcamp here, alternatively you can stream it to death on Soundcloud.

Various - Naafi: Pirata 5

Incredible 36-track compilation from Mexican trailblazers Naafi. "Pirata 5" is, as the name suggests, fifth volume in the bootleg compilations series curated by the label, featuring some of the hottest names in the underground club music right now. It's seriously hard to choose top X tracks here, from the glorious opener the album is riding the wave until the final track, most of them with a latin twist. Give this one a go.

"Pirata 5" is available for free on Naafi's bandcamp here. Stream it in full below.

Edith Underground - Desire

"Desire" is a new breakcore joint from Edith Underground, three minutes of ravey bliss with some aqua crunk/seapunk wonkiness. Stream above.

G.R. Zombie - Dead Tape

New 3-track EP from G.R. Zombie, follow-up to "Save Me God" from January this year. Funeral music for hearse drivers, filled with slowly rolling trap beats and gritty synths, GR's tracks channel some of that SALEM energy, especially when paired with rap on "50". It's quite catchy, well executed, makes me want more.

Cop the "Dead Tape" here, and stream below.

Vienna Vox - The Void

Here's another surprise release from Vienna Vox. "The Void" was recorded with her frequent collaborator Jason Timothy (aka Shhadows) who took care of production and arrangements. The track brings to mind the ethereal songs of Sleep Over and lo-fi pop of early-days' Grimes. Great stuff. Buy it here.

The Serfs - Is There An Exit?

New single from Cincinnati-based minimal-synth punks The Serfs. On "Is There An Exit?" they bring to the table a catchy coldwave / synth-punk composition that serves as a backdrop to lyrics that convey the state of hopelessness and anxiety. You can buy it for one buck here.

El Machocador - When We Rise

Fantastic 4-song EP of proto techno and post house from a mysterious act El Machocador on New York Haunted. The tracks have a nautical feel to them (i.e. "Proof 1" gives me some big Drexciya vibes), perfect for a hot day to keep you going. Obviously that maritime association may not be too in-your-face (and totally living in my head), but El Machocador manages to sound really refreshing and could easily re-claim the seapunk label for the summer of 2022.

Dive into the EP here, and stream it after the jump.

Ghoda - Posted In The Back Of The Club

Ghoda is a producer and DJ out of Philly, PA who just dropped his new album via Dawn Records. "Posted In The Back Of The Club" is a revival of the mutated club flips and edits that once ruled Soundcloud timelines thanks to the crews centered around the Fade To Mind label and DIS Magazine. R&B vocal samples and hip-hop beatmaking techniques serve as backbone for most of the tracks here, with Ghoda's touch turning them into underground anthems. With its early 90s rave influences juxtaposed with post-club trends of the last decade, the album sounds like cult Teen Witch mixes (which I used to listen to religiously back in the early 10s) and I'm all here for it. Great stuff, don't sleep.

You can order "Posted In The Back Of The Club" here in digital format, but if you wait a few more days/weeks there should be a CD version landing on bandcamp soon. Stream below.

Sweatson Klank - Postcards

Sweatson Klank fka Take is a LA-based producer, DJ and the beats scene icon, who paved the way for the likes of Flying Lotus, Hudson Mo or AFTA-1 back in the late 90s/early 00s. "Postcards" is his latest album that will come out on June 17th via his bandcamp. Based on the two tracks that are available there, the record shapes up to be a cosmic ride through ambient and chillout portals, nested in a meditative zone that's been championed by Leaving Records for a while now. Limited to only 50 copies, with a hand-made collage/cover art the album is already almost gone so don't sleep if you want to bag one of those LPs.

Order the album here, and stream it below.

Sport DJ - Stone Remixes

Japanese label Mizuha 罔象 just dropped a lush ambient-trance five track remix EP of Sport DJ's single "Sport". Except from the original mix, the release features versions from Sun Angels, Cares, Ichiro Tanimoto and soichi 芳芽. All the profits from Bandcamp will be donated to the people of UNICEF to help Ukraine. Support!

"Stone Remixes" is available for free from Bandcamp, but you can obviously donate there too. Stream below.

Om Unit & Lorn - Obsidian

11 years after it was initially released, Om Unit decided to re-master and reissue his dark electro collaboration with Lorn entitled "Obsidian". According to the bandcamp's short bio, parts of the track were recorded by the two of them together in London in 2010. You can now download it for free here.

Alison Fulci - Tape Two (Alison Fulci's Search For Seldom Sorrow)

Last week I wrote about Alison Fulci's debut tape, and now we got the second volume of their recordings. This one feels less gritty and noisy than its predecessor, with the grungy witch-house making room for more hip-hop and trap-based beats. There's still a fair amount of creepy there, especially when it comes to their handling of the samples and creating of melancholic backgrounds. The opening track "This Is The Beginning Of The End Of Us" is my fav though.

"Tape Two" can be downloaded for free here, and streamed in full below.

Dark disco jam from Mexican producer Mufti, released on the heels of his recent set of Edits. This is the second single for the newly minted Ombra International sublabel D'Oro Unlmtd, following last month's two-tracker from Amarcord. To purchase this 80's fulled mix of guitars and synths heard over here.

Ritualz - Radical Macabro

After an insanely busy first half of 2022, defined by five elaborate maxi-singles ("Disintegration", "Nadir", "Dose", "Static Noise" and "Die Here Now"), videos, and collaborations, the long-awaited follow up to Ritualz' "Doom" is finally just around the corner. The new album "Radical Macabro" will come out on 24 June in CD format, either as a slick Digipack, or a massive (content-wise) deluxe box set, which will be limited to 50 copies. The deluxe set will include all the maxis released as separate CDs, a zine, digital versions of the instrumental AND slowwwed editions of the main record. You can pre-order all that from Ritualz' bandcamp plus get the digital version of the LP if that's you thing. On top of all that, Ritualz is going on tour around the USA and EU, head over here to see all the dates.

CRAVE - PIT Podcast N°4

An hour of mindfuckery, noise and industrial experimentation from CRAVE for Paso Inferior Tapes podcast. This shit would be a book-definition of evil in the satanic-panic days. I recently spoke to CRAVE and he shared some exciting news - there's a vinyl record in the pipeline called "Inner War Delirium", which is scheduled for the second half of the year. Before that we should also get 2 new EPs and a side-project called Sniper Bait. Good times ahead.

Des Âmes Libres - Nowhere

Des Âmes Libres is darkwave / post-punk trio based in Paris. Their 2020 mini-album "Nowhere", expanded with two additional tracks from 2021 and 2022, just got re-released last month by Dead Wax Records (who specialise in rare cold/darkwave reissues). Eight tracks in total, the record offers a glimpse into a bleak world that hovers between live instrumentation and electronic music.

Order the limited edition vinyl here, or if you prefer the 2020 CD version there are still copies here.

Alison Fulci - Tape One (Alison Fulci Is Dead In Apartment 26)

Alison Fulci is the reincarnation of the witch-house project 3xit3y3z, made up of brothers Mark and Kevin Johnson. They first EP "Tape One" dropped on May 19 and consists of six short tracks that should appeal to all horror-trap and witch-noise fans. Those labels may be a bit hurtful, because for a 10 minute long release there's quite a lot going on here. I really dig the guitar backed tracks, grungy "How Strange It Is To Be Anything At All" and possessed ballad "Wrapped In Delicate Decay". The pop appeal of "You've Tasted Love, You Drank The Blood" also hits the spot, and so does the creepy transimission in the outro. One to watch.

You can download "Tape One" for free from Alison Fulci's bandcamp here, and stream it below.

Beau Wanzer - Takeover (Excerpt From Garfield Park Conservatory)

Two hours and fourty minutes of droning synths, ambient psychedelia and obscure oddities from Beau Wanzer on this DJ mix for Edition Erich Schmid series. It's actually an except from an event at Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago that took place in March this year, where Beau played alongside Fennesz and Blue Lick. Ace.

Cold Showers - Strength In Numbers

Really exciting new EP from Californian post-punks Cold Showers. Scheduled to drop on Dais Records June 10th, most of the tracks from "Strength In Numbers" are already available to stream on bandcamp, and I got to admit - this is an incredibly enjoyable synth-pop and shoegaze-infused release, with contagious melodies, brilliant bass lines, and an unexpected guest feature from LiL B. Give this one a spin.

At the moment, the EP is available digitally here. As usual, you can stream it below.

Forest Swords - DJ Set @ Ninja Tune x Sasquatchfabrix Livestream

Forest Swords has shared on his Soundcloud account a mix he produced for the Ninja Tune x Sasquatchfabrix clothing collection launch party. It was streamed live in winter 2021 via Dommune in Tokyo, any year later we got to hear it in full again. But that's not the end of exciting news, the same soundcloud set page also includes a note that there's more FS music coming out in 2022 via Ninja Tune. Exciting!
