Stay Healthy - Shoot At The Sun

"Shoot At The Sun" finally sees the light of the day in the proper format, after being featured on Stay Healthy's mixtape "We're Not 4 You". Gutter pop 4 ever.

Enn Eye - IMBDA

After two phenomental albums "Breaking Dawn" and "Saturn Devouring", NC Ives returns to his quite rare alter ego Enn Eye with a six-track LP "IMBDA". Deeply rooted in guitar experimentation and improvisation, and with focus on drone and ambient atmosphere-building, the album's main idea is to explore "the far reaches of Metal as concept". The music has a meditative quality to it, delving into those sounds will feel like sleepwalking through a fog-filled temple located high up in the mountains.

Purchase the album here, and check it out in full below.

Loafer (aka Montoya) takes on Pale Palace homie Zouls, and flips his track "Låtsas Som Det Regnar".

Ourobonic Plague - Invert Enact

Cosmic ambient, droning suspense and grainy transmissions from the outerspace make up "Invert Enact", a new 3-track release from Ourobonic Plague collecting soundscapes used on his Youtube channel. Nick calls it "concrète with a twist of hypnagogia" and I love this decription.

Obelisk Ruins - Thought-Vision-Doubt

Obelisk Ruins is a self-described "home-recording, sonic cut-and-paste mutant project" founded by Boston-based artist Andrew Petzold-Eley, who creates hypnotising, experimental music alongside two collaborators Douglas Tesnow and Evan Hydzik. Their latest record "Thought-Vision-Doubt" came out earlier this year in June via Katuktu Collective and has been haunting my speakers for the past few days. It's a smokey blend of noir jazz, sample-backed beats and elusive trip-hop, accentuated by live instruments (that clarinet and bass is heavenly) and hard to pin down samples, sitting somewhere between moody David Lynch soundtracks, "Endtroducing"-era DJ Shadow and Bohren & Der Club Of Gore.

You can buy the album on tape here or here, and listen to it below.

Dancing In Slow Motion - Artist

The latest song from DISM "Artist" is a beautiful minimal and lofi composition that sounds like something dug out of a musty basement of a local record store, laying there forgotten for decades. Think Grouper meets White Horse. Sad ghost music. Grab it for free here.

NIGELTHREETIMES - Metropolis N

New York-centric LP of ambient jungle, d'n'b bangers and jazzy breakbeats from Nigel dropped a few days ago on British label Astral Black. Beautiful stuff with some organic drums, smooth melodies and mellow grooves. Highly recommended stuff.

The vinyl is limited to 100 copies and can be bought here. Stream below.

New Embryo issue from Natural Sciences is out now, including a limited 7" lathe cut with a first ever reissue of a minimal-wave acid group from the 80's tape scene Birth Control, and their single "Färger". Cop it here.

New Mexican Stargazers - Ultra Lucidity

Notorious abstract electronic producer New Mexican Stargazers is back with a new album. Recorded over a course of two days, "Ultra Lucidity" delivers the psych-new age soundscapes NSM perfected over the course of last five years. Part Sun Araw, part James Ferraro, his eclectic post-vaporwave take on lo-fi electronica is just perfect. Highly recommended trip music.

Cop the album here, and stream in full below.

Mater Suspiria Vision - Untitled Instrumental Demo

Glowed Hearse - In Your Eyes

Glowed Hearse is Duane Hodges, Elizabeth Shadrick & Brent Carnahan, an experimental band from Ogden, Utah who refuse to be categorised - making music that's in-between post-punk, goth, witch house and dark-tinted alt/psych rock. Their most recent release "In Your Eyes" (rendered as ᛁᚾ᛫ᚤᚩᚢᚱ᛫ᛖᚤᛖᛋ) is a great example of this, part spooky post-punk, part gothic darkwave, it's a great, Halloween treat. Fans of In Death It Ends should really like this.

Get "In Your Eyes" here, and stream both songs below.

Montoya - Hollow

New EP from Montoya dropped an hour ago on Soundcloud. Sampling heavily from Greaf, Vic Mensa and Galantis, Montoya puts his own stamp on those tracks, giving them the witchy rap spin with his heavy percussion. I'm actually amazed how well he managed to flip the Galantis' EDM mediocrity into a banging track. (Edit. The EP is now on Bandcamp too)

Cop it here, and stream below.

The Haxan Cloak - N/Y

Bobby Krlic leaves his movie scoring duties on a side to kickstart a new label (Archaic Devices) and drops a new single "N/Y", that also gets a rare these days vinyl release. Buy the record / digital here.

Family - Night Runner

Now this is a return I was not expecting to see on my SC timeline... ever. Family aka George Cassavetes uploaded to his account a "new" old song, composed in 2011 "Night Runner", mixing post-dubstep / future garage drum tempo (more on the mellow side) and chill vocals and Japanese downtempo-style piano keys that give the track a very zen vibe. No download for this one.

Odonian Drifts - Volcanic Lavender

Odonian Drifts is a monkier of Nottingham-based poet, vocalist and musician Iain Rowley, who also sings in a post-punk band Spirits in the Pillar. His most recent single "Volcanic Lavender" is a mix of spoken word, dark IDM and hauntological ambient and dungeon synth soundscapes, an eclectic composition created at the edge of time and narrated by a disillusioned bard. It's the first single promoting his upcoming debut album "Earwitness On Trial", which will come out on November 3rd, and can be pre-ordered here.

Hypersport Ltd. - Ravewaste

Hypersport Ltd. aka Medulasa aka DJ Netflex aka The Dubwitch Horror (+ a dozen of other aliases) marks a return to this rave friendly project with the release of "Ravewaste". While their two previous EPs were exploring the sonic universe of trance music, the new single turns to garage and injects into it a solid portion of acid influences.

Stream "Ravewaste" below, and buy it here.

Akira Kintsugi - Joyería

Akira Kintsugi may or may not be a secret side project of JC Lobo from Ritualz. Let your imagination go wild. Anyway, after that pretty great deconstructed remix of Sexes a few months back, he released a solo track that sways more towards chill hip-hop production, something ASAP Rocky or Main Attz could flow on back in the day. Cop it here.

C. Moore Laufman - Jubilee / *Certified Ohio Players*

New double A-side single from Chris Laufman. "Jubilee" made me think how much his swagger reminds me of SSION, a breezy and mellow acoustic indie pop composition that sounds super nice. Track two sounds like a hip-hop album interlude / post-vaporwave break, rollerdisco jam. Grab both here.

Suffer Ring - This House Is Not A Home (Asmodai Remix)

Suffer Rings's latest single "This House is Not a Home" gets a remix treatment from Ukrainian producer Asmodai. By taking the post-nu-metal original, muting its main synth and adding a ton of metal sound staples, he turned the track into a sonic mosh pit. Asmodai is going through some tough time at the moment, S/R website states that he has been injured during the Russian invasion of his country and needs surgery. All proceeds from bandcamp purchases from the band's website done in October will be forwarded to him to help pay for this surgery. Grab the track here, and while at it cop the whole discography of Suffer Ring, because it's a streal with its discount.

Old Amica - Tuvåkra // video

Between 2012 and 2016, one of my favourite blogs Stadiums & Shrines used to run an amazing series of singles entitled Dreams, which culminated with the release of a compilation "S&S presents: Dreams". The series - as well as the compilation - was a beautiful ode to fleeting moments, painted with strokes of ambient, indie folk, ethereal downtempo and lush, shoegazing pop music. I'm writing all this, because a few days ago I got an email from Old Amica, a two-man band from Sweden consisting of Johan Kisro and Linus Johansson, who wanted to share with me "Tuvåkra", a new video single promoting their upcoming album "Fyr". Basking in a dreamy Nordic sunlight, translated here with delicate guitar strumming and melodic piano keys, "Tuvåkra" is a warm and atmospheric post-rock meets indie electronica nugget that will appeal to the fans of Sigur Rós, ambient-leaning works of the Sincerely Yours label, and the aforementioned Dream series. "Fyr" will be released on October 14th via Whitelabrecs.

Kutmah - Psychedelic Juju E.P 3

Third part of the "Psychedelic Juju" series sees Kutmah dive into another stash of late 60's and early 70's psychedelic records and sampling the juicy bits out of them to create some of his most trippy beats. Featuring vocals from MF Doom, Mear One, Special Ed and George Clinton among others, it's a brilliant beats album.

Purchase the EP3 here, and stream it in full below.

J.W.B. Hits The Beat - Body On Body (Curses Revamp)

Less than three weeks are left until the premiere of Curses' much anticipated compilation "Next Wave Acid Punx Deux". Above you can listen to one of the latest singles promoting this epic release, a re-edit of the 1987 new beat classic "Body On Body" from J.W.B. Hits The Beat.

Pale Palace - Summit Creep

New Pale Palace rave extravaganza, 2 minutes and 30 seconds of grainy synth and tekkno beats that will make you bop your head whether you want or not. Purchase it here.

Forest Swords - Munitions // video

"Munitions" is the latest video single promoting FS upcoming album "Bolted", which is due October 20th on Ninja Tune. Mysterious, found footage-style video set in a bleak, industrial factory (or theatre remains?) matches the music quite perfectly.

Drop - Basement Art

"Basement Art" is the latest in a series of free mixtapes Drop fka DropxLife has been releasing on Soundcloud for free. This one's definitely on the mellow side, threading between hip hop, trip hop, wave and sultry bass music. If you need a soundtrack for a lazy afternoon with a) a mainstream appeal, b) to play in the background, this may be it. I still need to shake off the Weeknd association from Drop's work, the dude has skill so I hope it happens soon. Overall the "Basement Art" may not be his best tape, but it's a freebie, so can't complain. Download here.

Lil Peptoman - Time

Haven't heard much from LiL Peptoman for a while, so I'm glad that my bandcamp notified me about his new single "Time". Something for the slowcore witch fans and emo rappers. Salem fans will love this one. Buy here.
