Ronce - Crève

Dawn Records tagged this album on bandcamp "gore asmr" and I think that's a perfect way to describe this record. Zoë Villerd's experimental output Ronce has been a regular at Dawn, and this is her third project for the label. "Crève" is like a walking through a mental hospital corridor at night, and dragging a knife across the walls as you move along. Tense, unnerving and alluring at the same time, with some of the most unique voice featurings I've heard all year. Good night.

Gargantuan Grief - Songs For The Doom(ed) Generation

The individuals behind Gargantuan Grief are still hiding in the shadows, so I cannot really say much about who's behind that name, but it may (or may not) be a side project of Hajj. Their debut album "Songs For The Doom(ed) Generation" is out now on the excellent Dawn Records, and it's a gloomy ride through the worlds of doom, industrial, metal, dark ambient and deconstructed club. It may sound like it's all over the place but the fine threads that hold this LP together work really well, forming an adventurous and unpredictable experienece from start to finish. Imagine Linkin Park, Type O Negative and Burial Hex mashed together and cranked up 1000%.

The album is available on CD which can be purchased here. Steam below.

Ghoda - Posted In The Back Of The Club

Ghoda is a producer and DJ out of Philly, PA who just dropped his new album via Dawn Records. "Posted In The Back Of The Club" is a revival of the mutated club flips and edits that once ruled Soundcloud timelines thanks to the crews centered around the Fade To Mind label and DIS Magazine. R&B vocal samples and hip-hop beatmaking techniques serve as backbone for most of the tracks here, with Ghoda's touch turning them into underground anthems. With its early 90s rave influences juxtaposed with post-club trends of the last decade, the album sounds like cult Teen Witch mixes (which I used to listen to religiously back in the early 10s) and I'm all here for it. Great stuff, don't sleep.

You can order "Posted In The Back Of The Club" here in digital format, but if you wait a few more days/weeks there should be a CD version landing on bandcamp soon. Stream below.

Modern Collapse - Usual Case Scenario

"Usual Case Scenario" is the new album from French duo Modern Collapse, composed of Gabriel de Sercey and Hugo Fabry. Even though the record kicks off with a celestial free-jazz ambience, the record-proper is actually filled with a swathe of post-dubstep sounds, jungle breaks, and bass workouts for all the heads that miss the mid-2000s underground vibes. There's something here for all the loners who like to wonder and wander, but club aficionados should also dig the twisted dembow and breakbeats of "Stolen Whispers In The Club", as well as sci-fidm and breaks of "Rush". Definitely a grower.

The album is out now on CD via Dawn Records, and can be purchased here. Stream after the jump.

Dodo - Brasse

Just came across this 7" from French singer/producer Dodo, released by experimental label Dawn Records, who also put out this excellent EP from Lieu Noir. Two hypnotizing tracks of slow NOIR&B sung in French, both only 2 min short, grabbed my attention instantly. There's a couple of tracks on Dodo's Soundcloud, so check those out too.

Stream the single below, and order the vinyl here.
