Blear Moon, an ambient-composing alias of Germany-based musician Vlas Presnetsov, returns to Language Instinct - the Texan home of all things fuzzy - with a second release with a second release entitled "Nocturne Between Cycles". As the title aptly suggests, the album is a collection of glittering ambient tones bouncing off each other in a sleepy manner but in a perfect harmony. Martyr In The Sand - معاقبة [Punish]

Second release from the Australian noisemaker Martyr In The Sand. "معاقبة [Punish]" is a 45-minute long sonic warfare set somewhere deep in the Pacific trenches. Crusty layers of noise take over the curious play of shadows, in the accompaniment of death industrial gasps and harsh noise screams. It's only until the final track we can get that final breath of air and calm after this hellish ride.

Klokhet - The Emerald Sphere

Klokhet, the reincarnation of Travis Egedy's SCYTHE project, finds a clear and confidently executed direction within a self-described dungeon dub sub-genre. Drawing on muted trip-hop, UK bass, and ambient dungeon styles, "The Emerald Sphere" is simply incredible and hits all the right notes! Cop the single here.

Three Wishes - Foil // video

"Foil" is the first single from the upcoming Three Wishes album "Roadside Shrine". It will be out on newly minted Caustic Heap, on November 7. I've been patiently waiting for something new from him ever since his incredible collab album with Pharmacist.

White Columns - Business Class Vol. 1

I love this concept! White Columns' "Business Class Vol. 1" is the first release in an experimental series of recordings utilising "found cassette tapes, live improvised guitar, bass, no input mixing, synths plus tape and digital recording manipulation". Volume on is digging into the grave of "Relax with the Classics - Volume 4: Andante" tape... The result is quite spooky, reminiscent of Pre-Cert Home Entertainment sound collages. Dig in here.

Intestines - Who's Ready For Forever?

Now that's an interesting twist in sound progression. Intestines enlisted help from his guitar-strumming friend, Phoenix Davis, to produce this lo-fi, bedroom-pop single that reminds me of the Blogspot-era, DIY pop-folk producers from the Orchid Tapes stable. Golgotha Communications Ltd. - I Was Charged With Murder

Golgotha Communications Ltd. released their new album "I Was Charged With Murder" on Moonside Tapes, and finding myself at the intersection of its title, the dark album cover and the sounds themselves makes me think I misclicked my Google results and ended up down some mystery rabbit hole website. The range of sounds is quite minimal, yet GCL manages to craft an oddly creepy release that leaves you impatiently awaiting its final track (which doesn't come soon enough). And I don't mean that in a bad way - there's something genuinely eerie yet alluring hiding behind this record. Give it a spin.

Worthless Waste - Where Do I Belong

Jónó Mí Ló decided to dust off his 2010-era witch house project Worthless Waste, and "Where Do I Belong" is a four track result. Situated at the crossroads between hazy vaporwave, screwed barber beats and minimal witch ambient, it's a decent comeback albeit not groundbreaking. One for the old school heads. The release in not available on streaming anywhere, but you can download it for free here.

Meadow Argus - To The Valley Below

The new album from Meadow Argus "To The Valley Below", released on Histamine Tapes, sees him utilising the microcassette format to achieve that warm, lo-fi feel. Each of its 14-minute-long tracks makes me feel like I'm experiencing a summertime dawn and dusk, respectively. By gluing sample-based cut-ups with curious, slightly psychedelic tones on "Wheeling Overhead" and diving deep underneath calming ambient soundscapes on "To The Valley Below" (led by muffled keys that ebb in and out), Tynan manages to capture my attention from start to finish, making me reminisce about the peak of the 2010s cassette scene. Super dreamy and so good!

Vidchajj - Undercover

"Undercover" is a long-awaited new release from the Ukrainian legend Vidchajj. Despite the world crumbling around him, he delivers his sick eight-track record that immaculately merges the worlds of witch house, hip-hop and breakbeats. The Pale Palace collab is so good, and I'm super stoked to also experience the new Bones edit. Solid stuff, make sure to support!

Feral Agathist - Spring Break '98

"Spring Break '98" makes me think of the Toxic Avenger. It's wonderfully lo-fi, warped and sleazy in its noisy beauty, but at the same time holds up well as an aural grindhouse experience featuring heavily mutated field recordings and noise manipulations. From the moment I discovered it on Bandcamp I knew I wanted to put it out on Bone Valley.

Gravegonzo - Whatever, Forever

Gravegonzo is back! His debut album was one of my favourite LPs from 2021, so I'm super stoked there's a follow-up on its way. The single "Whatever, Forever" came out all the way back in March, but I missed out on it at the time. Still, the track fits the autumn season perfectly, so I'm happy to share it here. I can hear echoes of the past decade in this cut, carrying ripples of all the best bits from that era filtered through Gravegonzo's own style. Buy the track here.

Dead Neanderthals - Flesh Is Fragile

Dead Neanderthals (Otto Kokke and René Aquarius) are back with "Flesh Is Fragile", a new, self-released slab of black vinyl. Following their insanely good EP for Bone Valley, the duo returns with a fresh sonic onslaught. These six ultra-textured, abrasive compositions embrace both noise and metal in equal measure, creating a gritty listening experience that will etch itself onto your cerebral cortex when played at maximum volume. One for fans of The Body and late Burial Hex stuff.

Self Perception - Upon A Rain

Wavey, melancholic new single from Self Perception (aka Colby Johnson). Apparently it was written a while ago, but only recently he revisited the track and gave it a polish and published it on socials. Really catchy stuff, I love the build-up and the vocal sample. Buy and download here.

White Ring - Fate

Stellar retun from the OGs and pillars of the scene. White Ring's "Fate" was self-released on the anniversary of 9/11, with a cover art showcasing a photo of the murky towers.

Morrowtree - Mainlined / Downhill

Riga-based newcomer Morrowtree released this double-A single just the other week, and since I'm always drawn to the Baltic underground, I had to give it a spin. Out of the two tracks, "Downhill" takes the lead for me. I appreciate the noisy guitar work in particular. It's a solid, witchy twin pack with a hip-hop spine, though I'd be lying if I said there wasn't still plenty of room to grow. Definitely one to watch for the future.

Pwin Teaks - The Black Lodge Files

Pwin Teaks returns to Phantasma Disques with a new EP entitled "The Black Lodge Files", plugging back into interdimensional frequencies. Dark ambient and spooky, stretched soundscapes bring back memories of the O'69 label, while some of the eerie vocal samples sound like something straight from the bleakest folders of Voodoo Crystals, maimed and deformed beyond recognition. One for lonely nights.

STRFLL - Part I. Withering

Earlier this month, STRFLL put out the stellar double album "Withering / The Flowers Will Bloom In My Sanctuary", and I wanted to spend enough time with it before blogging about it here. "Part 1: Withering" may be STRFLL's most radical and genre-pushing release to date - a daring and absolutely successful feat of finding common ground between witch house, black metal, industrial, experimental hip-hop, noise, and more. It's a brooding record, punk at its core, filled with tons of dark energy unleashed across seven eclectic capsules, enhanced by guest vocal performances from (the show-stealing) Same Me, Devour, and Kylm Tee. I totally love the sonic nods to CRAVE and Planning For Burial. I think it's telling when my favourite track on the LP changes every time I revisit it. At the time of writing, I just want to have "Withdrawal" crawling under my skin. Absolutely do not miss out on this album. Part two review coming soon!

Pale Palace x Dancing In Slow Motion - Still Dancin

A collaboration between Pale Palace and DISM sounds sick, but we're getting an unofficial-ish remix of a remix. PP takes on "Dance4me", and adds some of that nordic magic to an already dope track. Free download on Soundcloud. Peep it.

Megafauna - Birdsong (Live)

Brilliant, improvised ambient piece performed by Megafauna at Midsummer Music Festival in Smithers, Canada. Utilising a vast archive of bird calls, each sound is treated as a sample, modified and moulded into a liminal symphony and a dialogue between the artist and the nature. The final result manages to capture the serenity of those calls, but also the brooding feeling of something unknown perched behind each sound. Buy this recording here.

Nadine Hurley - No Weapon Formed Against me Shall Prosper

Newcastle witchy trio Nadine Hurley (Alex Wardle, James Wardle and Byron Wilson) are back with a second EP, once again released in super limited quantities on cassettes by Katnis Tapes. The most exciting new band on the UK scene atm.

Deseo/Realidad - Sueños De Escape

Deseo/Realidad's fourth EP, "Sueños De Escape", continues an incredible streak of drone-heavy releases, following in the footsteps of his self-titled project from March this year. On "Sueños De Escape", we get two 15-minute compositions that create a symphony of distortion and ritual trance, led by sections of alien-like glitches, pulsating rhythms, and texture-heavy soundscapes. It's a captivating listening experience that slowly unravels before us, revealing more and more intricacies as it grows. A-fucking-mazing!

How To Dress Well - The Only True Joy On Earth (Nick León True Joy 4am Mix) // video

This is actually a jam! Nick León remixes HTDW's "The Only True Joy on Earth", originally found on his 2024 album "I Am Toward You", and stays true to the remix title. It does sound like something you'd hear at a club, early into the morning, drowsily moving across the dancefloor trying to get that last drink. Cop it here.

I haven't checked in with И⸸CO▽SLΛVΞ in a while, so it's good to see the dude is as prolific as he has always been. His new joint "What Is The Point" is a solid 7-minute long inspirational witch wave banger. As usual, the melody, synths, drumwork - it's all there, arranged to the maximum headnod-ometer. Luminol - The Feeling That Something Is Missing

Luminol returns with a new EP "The Feeling That Something Is Missing". I'm usually not a big HNW fan, but there's something special within Luminol's sonic waves, embossed with industrial hiss and grit, that really clicked with me. The whole release is inspired by loss, which I guess one can approach in a personal manner, but for me, there is an obscure, hard-to-identify quality that just draws me in.

Imminent Death / Kate Rissiek - Rigid Horizon

Nova Scotian label Buried in Slag and Debris released this cross-border split tape last month from Imminent Death and Kate Rissiek. "Rigid Horizon" brings us two distinct sides of the experimental electronics coin. Allison of Imminent Death delivers eerie drones and industrial noise that teleport me aboard a ship lost somewhere within the Bermuda Triangle, anxiously drifting and hoping for salvation. Kate's side, on the other hand, leads the confused crew further into the abyss with harsh noise wall transmissions and shrieks of power electronics instrumentation. No one will make it alive. I am generally not 100% sold on the idea of split releases, but this one landed way better than I was expecting. Totally worth your time and money!

Modern Violenc3 - The America Tape

Merely three months after dropping their radical debut album, Modern Violenc3 return with "The America Tape". Sixteen tracks deep, this album builds on the witch-rave foundations of its predecessor, bumping the gear up with nihilistic lyrics and take-no-prisoners tempos - NOS thrown in for an extra boost. In an ideal world, this would be the official soundtrack to a Tony Hawk's Pro Skater game with a forced mode to play at 1.5x speed. The chemistry between Winter's futuristic-yet-current beats and Phoebe's rap delivery is undeniable - they make sure not a single second is wasted throughout this spellbinding record. It's a stunning feat for a band so new (in a way) to build such a powerful foundation in just a few short months. I'm genuinely so excited to see what's next for them. I just hope there will be physical editions of those records!

Witcha - Liars feat. STRFLL

"Liars" is the second single from Witcha's upcoming album "Marigold", featuring STRFLL on extra production duties. I was not expecting it to sound the way it does, its a fast and furious dancefloor tune, that gived a nod to French electro scene. Download the single here.

Dakota Rogers released this incredible single "Calling" a few months back and I totally missed out on it. Dreamy, ethereal jam based on Burial sample that melts my heart every single time - you just can't go wrong here. Plaese support the artist if you can here.

Lover's Leap - Summer Rain

Lover's Leap returns with a brand new 2-track vinyl single on newly minted Perverse Incentives. "Summer Rain" is a deliciously dark and gritty collage of power electronics, addictive noise signals and chopped up harsh walls. Both tracks are sick, but "Belongings Scattered Around The Entrance" moves something inside me.

Exsufflation - Channel 0

Exsufflation's second album "Channel 0" came out on July 3, but I think I was subconsciously waiting for the season to change and September to arrive so I could sit down with headphones (where the raw intimacy of his lyrics truly lands) and recommend it to the world. Seven songs deep, it's Rob's most personal project to date, written and recorded during a challenging period marked by the deaths of a close friend, his grandmother, and his dog. The result is a witch house dirge that sonically pays respect to the sound of a bygone decade while lyrically offering a glimpse into Rob's mind during this difficult time. His songwriting, filled with love, grief, hope and sadness, is delivered with a voice overflowing with pain and emotion. All these feelings guide both the artist and the listener throughout the record, breaking your heart while slowly nurturing the healing process, ultimately delivering an incredibly engaging album that will undoubtedly land on my end-of-year list.

Deeat Palace – S.c.a.n.n.e.r.

Deeat Palace released her latest album "S.c.a.n.n.e.r." in September of '25 via the French imprint Prix Libre Record. I just realised I've had this post sitting in draft mode since last year, but it was great to revisit it today. "S.c.a.n.n.e.r." furthers her exploration of the wide scope of experimental electronic music, connecting the dots between industrial, noise and power ambient to form a cinematic listening experience. It makes me think of Blade Runner for some reason. Really solid recording - check it out.

Volunteer Coroner - Private Renaissance

Mesmerising new release from Volunteer Coroner. "Private Renaissance" arrived via the English noise imprint Outsider Art, marking Preston's return to the label after 2021's incredible "Eternal" tape. The new project finds VC in his most well-established element, where (to my knowledge) he remains in a league of his own when it comes to blending and juxtaposing forward-facing ambient soundscapes with noise textures. There's a feeling of longing present in these tracksg, perhaps for a future that never was... Essential listening, do not miss this!

I don't have to repeat a million times that AFTA-1 is a genious and one of the best beatmakers of his generation. For the Bandcamp day, he released this groovy, bass-heavy joint that will make you bop your head whether you want it or not. So, so good. Make sure to buy the single here.

Beauty - ╳╳╳╳╳╳╳╳╳ Paradise Mixtape

Sick mixtape from Beauty, based on his Soundcloud profile made all the way back in 2024, but released on his Bandcamp just two months ago (including download option, which I appreciate 100%). Featuring DJLOSTBOI, Aphex Twin, Dean Blunt and more. Stylistically it's quite all over the place, but that's why I love it. Grab it here.

Mutant Zones' fourteenth mix comes from the vast archives of one of the most creative souls the witch house/experimental electronic scene has ever had - The Ceremonial Dagger. Musician, DJ, visual artist and creative DIY tour de force, Dagz has been an inspiration to me ever since he first surfaced on my radar back in 2011, and I'm super stoked to share this set recorded during a 2015 Shadows & Rhythm event in Austin, TX. A collage of dark synth and industrial witch house, this 30-minute sonic experience should appeal to anyone craving originality in music. Long live Dagz! Kutmah - Highly Illegal Fly Shit

"Highly Illegal Fly Shit" is a huge, 18-track mixtape/mash-up behemoth from Kutmah, merging (mostly) famous acapellas with underground beats including some rare joints. This one's for all the hardcore hip-hop heads. Beastie Boys on Suicide's Cheree is sick, so is the closing track with Rakim.

A Place Both Wonderful And Strange - Matter And Desire

A Place Both Wonderful And Strange have been on hiatus for many years, so the announcement of a new album a few months back was a pleasant surprise, especially because I've been following them for over a decade. The record, released by the industrial/witch house powerhouse Re:Mission Entertainment, saw the light of day in April, but it took me four months to finally sit down and give it a proper listen - and boy, did I miss out. "Matter And Desire" is fucking incredible, it takes me to places I didn't expect, and sounds unlike anything APBWAS have released prior. Sadly, I haven't had a chance to read "Matter and Desire: An Erotic Ecology" (Andreas Weber's book that inspired the album), but at face value this music is a deliriously delicious project. It oscillates between industrial and club-friendly bangers ("Shedding Velvet", "It's Not That Bad", "Muffin") and heavier, more experimental song structures - all submerged in glimpses of our protagonists' forbidden diary. It's the sort of stuff you maybe shouldn't listen to, but can't help yourself - an intoxicatingly thrilling ride. Fucking ace.
