Fainting Faith - Reborn EP

I blogged about Crossgardens a while ago, and today I'm happy to share another representative of the Polish witch house scene - Fainting Faith with their EP "Reborn". His remix of "Breathe" appeared on STRFLL's most recent maxi-single, and with that co-sign, I felt it was worth diving into his first project, released a month ago. Consisting of five tracks, the EP opens with "Blooming", a soothing ambient piece that gently eases you in, preparing you to embrace what follows. The remaining four tracks adopt the classic witch house sound of its first wave, notably the grandeur of Ritualz' drum patterns and the melodic synths and basslines reminiscent of White Ring, delivering a nostalgic hit that's neither cheesy nor cheap. The proximity to those aforementioned artists is clear, but it feels deliberate and reassuring, giving the EP a welcome sense of familiarity without slipping into imitation. Great start, and one to watch!

STRFLL - Breathe Remixes

To coincide with the release of STRFLL's debut album "In Memoriam", a four-track EP/single was published with four remixes of "Breathe", originally recorded with Suffer Ring on vocals. We get one in-house remix by STRFLL themselves, as well as a witch-electro banger from the Polish newcomer Fainting Faith, French house surprise from Witcha, and an evil noise rendering from Pepsy. I love the diversity of sounds here, and you should definitely check this one out.
