Kutmah - Sacred Conversations
"Sacred Conversations" is a new, essential Kutmah LP, dedicated to and inspired by the late beat maestro Ras G. This is his second tribute to Brotha G, after 2020's album "A Tribute to Brother Ras G & The Afrikan Space Program". With twenty six nuggets influenced by deconstructed boom bap, chopped up cosmic transmissions, LA's Sketchbook flava and smokey dub, Kutmah created an album that is a straight up reminder about his beatmaking craftsmanship, and created a bridge between his own style and the quirky and unique Ras G vibe. One for the heads.

Kutmah - Bxxtlgvol1
Rushing to post this bootleg, before the copyright hawks come barking at Kutz. "Bxxtlgvol1" consists of six blends put together by Kutmah, featuring vocals from Doom, Nipsey Hussle, Gonjasufi and Pharoah Sanders. The opening mash-up with Suicide is a killer.

Kutmah - At The Lost Gates (Vol1)
Back in October Kutmah released this beattape/tribute of sorts to Madlib, or to be precise his alter-ego Lord Quas. Featuring quasi-samples, Kutz delivers eleven minimal, chill beats on "At The Lost Gates (Vol1)". Dusty, blunted out productions go hand in hand with some of the most out-there sounds harvested by the producer. One for the 90s hip-hop heads.

Kutmah - Digital Transit Blackout
The man, the legend, Kutmah is back with a new beattape that landed on Bandcamp a couple of days ago. And what a treat it is. There's a wonderful backstory that goes with "Digital Transit Blackout" on the page, so peep it here. Ruff styles and gritty beats guaranteed (but then there's also this tropical remix of MF Doom's "Meatgrinder", so there's that). Dopeness.

Kutmah - Unreleased Beat Mix
40 minutes of exclusive beat nuggets from Kutmah's crates landed on Bandcamp in the shape of a 2-track mixtape compiling tracks recorded in one day (!) in November this year. Dude's creativity is boundless, the tracks vary from more mellow, jazzy and library leaning on side A, to more abstract beatmaking on side B. Bump it, cop it, have fun. Buy the tape here.

Kutmah - Psychedelic Juju E.P 3
Third part of the "Psychedelic Juju" series sees Kutmah dive into another stash of late 60's and early 70's psychedelic records and sampling the juicy bits out of them to create some of his most trippy beats. Featuring vocals from MF Doom, Mear One, Special Ed and George Clinton among others, it's a brilliant beats album.

Kutmah - Psychedelic Juju E.P 2
Kxxtz comes through with the second EP in the Psychedelic Juju saga. Dusty beats are covered with some juicy, obscure 60's and 70's psych samples that are masterfully chopped, cut, looped and flipped. This brings to mind Madlib productions mixed with Wu-Tang Clan flava.

Kutmah - Psychedelic Juju E.P
"Psychedelic Juju E.P" is a collection of Kutmah's favourite beats that will soon appear on his upcoming 35-track beat tape "Psychedelic Juju". It doesn't have a finalised release date or a label, so Kutz decided to share this sweet preview.

Kutmah - A.P.R.E.A.L Son
Kutmah is on a roll right now, "A.P.R.E.A.L Son" is his new beat-tape that came out on April 7th, showcasing his latest set of instrumentals. Dusty and full of sick chops and samples, this tape is probably one of his darkest hiphop productions in a long while. Kutz says himself that "some of the beats might seem a bit frustrated and uneasy. This is because it's how I feel right now." Nevertheless, it's a dope noir-hiphop album that sits somewhere between Da Beatminerz' style of NY boom-bap and the experimental take on the genre that takes me back to the Def Jux days.

DJ Kutmah - Live In Berlin
Week ago Kutz was meant to play a show in Berlin, but unfortunately that go cancelled due to weather. Not to waste the selection he prepped, he decided to put this mix up on Bandcamp. And I'm glad he did because the tape, divided into four parts, slays. Part 1 in particular got my attention with its smoky, psych and lo-fi vibe. Really solid mixtape for any beats fans. Support!

Kutmah - Original Production Beat Mix
Cult beatmaker and DJ Kutmah published yesterday his latest mixtape. Released on the 12-year anniversary of him leaving Los Angeles (check out this in-depth interview about his story), the tape consists of over 1 hour of beats infused with leftfield hiphop, dubby bass and meticulously selected samples from all over the world. The bandcamp states: some (beats) have been released on bandcamp through various beat-tapes, some are forthcoming Ras G tribute beats which will be on the second volume on All City Dublin and some will on a new 10'' entitled ''Old Ghosts'' on Insect Records. All are pretty dusty and full of beautiful mistakes. Iconic mix that celebrates the iconic producer.

Kxxtz - Live From Kontrol Faktory Berlin (3 Hour B-day Mix)
Hey, it's Kutmah's birthday and to celebrate it he recorded this 3+ hour long mixtape of minimal wave, post-punk, shoegaze, indie and everything in between. No need to spill more thoughts, the mix is dope and Kutmah's story that goes with it should put you in the right mindset:
"In L.A as a teen I used to stay up all night (sober, I was straight edge till age 24) drawing in my sketchbook listening to harsh and beautiful noises in my headphones. Once my mum fell asleep I would sneak out and go skate the church by my house or some nights we would go to Kontrol Faktory in Hollywood and dance our heads off or play pool while some dude was getting whipped by a domi ... The band Babyland would drum with chainsaws on metal lids and let off full cans of air fresheners ... That shit smelled horrible With this mix I'm transporting you to these exciting times with a taste of the bar scene from fire walk with me"

Kutmah - Deep Crates People Unification Mix
Kutz is back with this new Bandcamp Friday mixtape. "Deep Crates People Unification Mix" is a tasteful blend of hip-hop, soul, latin, african, jazz, psych and everything in between music, all mixed into a 3 hour long sonic journey. Massive recommendation. While at it, Kutmah also dropped two other mixtapes last month (which I didn't report on), promoting his beat night Raw Cakes. Check part 1 here and part 2 here.
