Mountain Laurel - Constant Stranger (Live Album)
Two-part live album from Canadian sound artist Grace Papineau-Couture, who performs under Mountain Laurel moniker. Both recordings are taken from her Chicago-based performances: the first set was recorded at Torn Light Records, while the second took place during the Lowdown event last year. While the former exists in a more abstract, drone-filled world of musique concrète, the latter's tape manipulations inject more melody and pop sensibilities into the performance. Both are equally engaging and unique.

Flesh - I Found Myself In Darkness
Glad to see FLESH back on Bandcamp. His latest single "I Found Myself In Darkness" is a minimal slap of cold, gothic witch house, perfect for the winter playlists and forgotten cemeteries. Cop it here.

Drug Machine - Ecstasy EP
Drug Machine is one of countless side projects from Cosmotropia de Xam. Originally created in 2012 as a faux-Japanese neo-industrial/cyberpunk take on witch house, DM quickly became one of my favourite projects of his. I was pleasantly surprised to see a notification in my mailbox that a new EP had been released under this banner, 11 years after his last album. It's worth appreciating that de Xam is trying to do something new here, taking the Machine into acid territories of dance music, with the help of his latest muse, Violette de Lestrange, on vocals. However, the songs sound quite flat - the bass in particular feels deflated and not loud enough. My favourite cut, "Mon Corps Ton Paradis", takes me back to 2010 and the Hype Williams reign with its wonky synth, but is slightly let down by the lifeless drums. I think the idea to push the boundaries was great, but the final product is lacking the soul of 90s rave.

Beauty - Euphoria

Beauty dropped this 2-track EP on Soundcloud ten days ago. Ethereal ambient-pop, living up to its author's name. Stream both tracks here. Fingers crossed that the download version is coming soon.

Dro Carey - Bell Guy / Tawny Track
Two-track single from the upcoming album "Denim Iron", out in March. "Bell Guy" takes me back to the 2010s UK bass sceen, but the b-side is the winner here. It's quite amazing it won't end up on the album!
Cop the single here, and stream both tracks after the jump.

Ras G - Blunts Rolled
First posthumous album of Ras G, released by his fam and estate. "Blunts Rolled" is a fat serving of sixteen smoked up, dusty joints that will appeal to all the beat heads out there, crafted by one of the best new wave beatmakers that ever lived. Rest in peace Ras.
You can buy the vinyl (in two colourways) and tapes here.
