Dagger Forest label is back

I'm happy to announce that I will be restarting my label Dagger Forest, which I founded in 2014 and ended up putting out 8 tapes and a promo CDr before I had to put it all on hold. After a seven year hiatus I'll be releasing three exciting albums on cassettes from some of the most amazing artists that have been pushing the boundaries of the undeground: Stay Healthy's "Dirt", Edith Underground's "Heaven's Night" and SCYTHE's "Candlelit Descent Down the Initiation Well", coming out December 27, 28 and 29 respectively. Scythe - Weeping Blade / Dungeon Trance

Well this one is a nice surprise. Travis Egedy makes an unexpected return with his Scythe alias, this time in a form of a two track single for NY-based Mechanical label. While his debut album "Candlelit Descent Down The Initiation Well" was a wonderful dungeon synth project (that ended up on my best of 2021 list), "Weeping Blade / Dungeon Trance" is a change of mood and tempo from the beatless Magic the Gathering OST to atmospheric, chillout-like vibe. There's still an element of ethereal beauty and menacing ambience there, but overall the release feels like a new direction for this project. I dig it.

Scythe - Candlelit Descent Down The Initiation Well

Scythe is a dungeon-synth project of Travis Egedy, better known as Pictureplane. His debut "Candlelit Descent Down the Initiation Well", released in May this year, is one of the best dungeon ambient albums I've heard in a long while. Filled with emotive synths that shape vast and brooding soundscapes, it's a sublime and haunting experience that will undoubtedly appeal to both melancholic crypt keepers as well as dystopian dreampunks. It begs for a physical release.
