Various - Beyond The Body

In celebration of WITCH-HOUSE.com's 15th anniversary, I released a new compilation titled "Beyond The Body", with tracks inspired by body horror movies. This latest release is a testament to the spirit and diversity of the witch house genre. The project features an incredible and eclectic lineup of artists - Ghost Mirror, Writhing, Tenderness of Wolves, Ourobonic Plague, Silence Embrace, Humanfobia, STRFLL, Cosmic Wildling, Voidscan, Zazie Productions, Textbeak, Skøgen, I††, MORGVE, ßęđŧīmĕ Šŧōŗĩėş, and Marth Daul - each contributing uniquely unsettling and atmospheric tracks, spanning a wide range of styles. With witch house at its core, the compilation pulses with elements of dark ambient, ghost drone, industrial, and noise, pushing the boundaries of experimental sound and genre fusion.

V.A. - PsycheDelia

Institute For Alien Research, a netlabel based in Bath (UK) organised this captivating tribute compilation dedicated to the great composer and experimentalist Delia Derbyshire entitled "PsycheDelia". 15 tracks of sonic oddities, embracing musique concrete, noise, glitch and abstract electronic music. The compilation features one of blog's usuals - Humanfobia, with their track "The Spectre of Delia". Recommended!

Humanfobia - Curtains

According to the band, this is Humanfobia's final release for 2024, and what a great EP to wrap up the year. Inspired by Canadian 1983 slasher film Curtains, their Vertigo Cult debut is a bizarro ride into the spook house filled with echoes of Lynchian paranoia, minimal witch house compositions and giallo-ambient, occasionally enhanced with Mist Spectra's haunted vocals. 2010-era witch house underground, 14 years later. I can't recommend enough to check out the video for "Patti O'Connor Mask" as it perfectly encapsulates the mood of this project.

Humanfobia - Patti O'Connor Mask // video

This is probably the most Lynchian-non-Lynchian video I can think of. New video single from Humanfobia's new EP "Curtains" that dropped on Vertigo Cult a few days ago. The movie Curtains itself is arguably an average slasher horror movie, but the collage above (with the music) gives it a unique aura of psychedelic delirium. Download the EP here.

Humanfobia - Ringu リング

For years now, the Chilean witch house duo Humanfobia has been championing the art of re-scoring and creating alternative soundtracks to some of Japanese most obscure as well as popular movies and series. Their latest mini-album "Ringu リング" is an hommage to the cult horror movie "Ring". Basking in the eerie and uncomfortable, the album is a sonic trip that intertwines and weaves various aspects of dark ambient, minimal witch house and Mist Spectras ghostly vocals, offering an aural equivalent of the supernatural VHS tape. Featuring stem contributions from Sonic Kitchen, Axis Project and DJ_ Iterate, Humanfobia's eight soundscapes will slowly and steadily seep from you speakers luring you into band's creepy world. Spooky soundtrack just in time for Easter.

Humanfobia - Ghostly Radio Station

18 minutes and 20 seconds of haunted soundscapes, foggy dark ambient and cosmic drones from the Chilean duo Humanfobia. The title "Ghostly Radio Station" nails the mood perfectly, but the music also summons visions of a lost-found recording that tells a story of an unmanned spaceship floating freely in space because its crew got slowly consumed by madness. Excellent atmosphere building from start to finish, brings to mind Mater Suspiria Vision droney works but seems to be more scarce and delicate. Great stuff, download it (as always for free) here.

Humanfobia - †▲PANDEMONIO▲†

Chillean witchhouse power couple is back with a new album. Sort of. Humanfobia's "Pandemonio" came out in January this year via Internet Daemon, however last month it was picked up by Paco Moreno label and re-released with new artwork in CD format. The album is a haunted tribute to the early witch house sound, bringing to mind experimental works of Mater Suspiria Vision and Ponyboy. DIY approach is at the front and centre, it may be choppy at times, but it feels honest and dedicated. "Special Darkness 特別な闇" opens the album with a good kick, dark-rave beat with slower synth line and the horror-like vocals. However it's the "Hijo De La Aurora" that sets the tone for the rest of the LP here, with its slower tempo and Mist Spectra's vocals. My personal highlights are the dungon synth/ambient procession "Goblincore Forest", the mood building of "☾☾☾Luna Menguante en el cementerio ☾☾☾", warped melody of "Bruja Escarlata" and the ghost drone'd "†🩸Vampiric Ancient Transmutation II 🩸†". The record features three collaborations (with AudioBake, †ATMOS†PHERE † OF GOD AND † DEVIL† and IDTAL) and overall feels like a backmasking experiment crazy Christians warned you about in the 80s.

Humanfobia - A Humanfobia Witch And Vapor Tribute To Phenomena

For Halloween, Phantasma Disques reissued Humanfobia's creepy tribute to Dario Argento's "Phenomena", an eerie exploration of the film's motifs through dark ambient, ethereal drone and witch house. Initially released as an EP in May on the band's Bandcamp, this new expanded edition also includes bonus collabs with Sona Nyl, Mario Lino Stancati and Invisible Illusion, as well as slow, droney edit of "Phenomena Communication With Insekts" backed with a 10 minute long trippy remix from the label's main act Mater Suspiria Vision. The whole album has an uneasy feel thanks to its ghostly, quite skeletal track structure that highlights each instrument and vocals. You can download the basic version of the release here for free, or purchase the new edition on CD here.

Humanfobia - Atmosfera Livida [B-Sides]

Humanfobia is a dark experimental, witch house duo from Rancagua, Chile consisting of Sábila Orbe & Mist Spectra. "Atmosfera Livida [B-Sides]" is their 2016 EP that got picked up by Civic Duty Records and reissued a few days ago via their Bandcamp. And I'm please it did, because this seven track EP may be one of my favourite projects from the band. Ghost drone, haunted dark ambient and witch-house minimalism lead the way to spooky world of Humanfobia's lo-fi aesthetics. "Fashion Show" even has some trippy vaporwave vibe to it. Fans of I†† and The Implicit Order should feel at home here.

You can download the EP for free here, and listen to it after the jump.
