Summer Film - Falling With The Snow

End-of-year surprise from Language Instinct label! "Falling With The Snow" is the new record from Summer Film, following the excellent "Please Don't Look Away" which I blogged about a few weeks ago. Like its predecessor, the new album keeps up the trend of having some of the coolest and most random song titles I’ve seen lately (I guess only Lou Johnstone can challenge that). As for the music, it's a wholesome continuation of "Please Don't Look Away", where noise-infected ambient effortlessly blends with textured drones and distorted new-age soundscapes. "Rainbow" really caught my attention with its glimmering arpeggios broadcasted alongside washed out tones. This album makes me want to dim all the lights, lie down in the middle of the room and listen to those sounds with my eyes closed. Superb.

Buy "Falling With The Snow" for $1 here, and stream it all down below.

Morgve - Symphony For Those In Pain

"Symphony For Those In Pain" is Morgve's first record of 2024. Released in September, the album landed in my mailbox not long after it came out, but after my first stream, for some reason, I couldn't get into the right headspace to review it. While listening to it, I can’t shake the feeling that this project, in particular, sounds more like a compilation of singles rather than an album meant to tell a story, with a clear beginning, middle, and end. Instead, we get a collection of some of the duo’s strongest tracks, both in terms of vocal diversity and eclectic production. There’s melancholic witch house, rave-y breakbeats, post-trance bass, deconstructed club and gabber, spacious layered ambient soundscapes, and more! If you approach this record with the mindset that it’s a "best of" compilation, I believe the appreciation for its craft will be greater. "Black Tiger" is just... wow! Please support those two as much as you can!

Get this album here, and stream all the tracks in order down below.

Beauty & STRFLL - White Wall (Drag)

Sick collaboration / drag between Beauty and STRFLL, I have no idea who's the remixed singer here, "White Wall" doesn't really tell me much, but the instrumental is quite incredible, love the drum work in particular here! Stream it here.

Mutant Zones interview: Suffer Ring

Stoked to present this interview with Corey Davenport from Suffer Ring, where we discuss the band's history, inspirations, past and future collaborations, live performances and upcoming plans. If you haven't checked out their 2024 album "Book of Miracles" yet, you can do so below (you can also read my review here). Make sure to buy their merch and follow them on socials - links are listed at the end of this interview. Enjoy the read!

Imminent Death - Radiant Ignition

Imminent Death (aka Allison Tantakarn) is a drone/noise artist from Queens, NY. I came across this tape by chance on Tumblr a week or so ago, and it's been on my mind since. "Radiant Ignition" is 30 minutes long and consists of two constantly morphing drone suites that occupy a blurry space between dark ambient and noise music. The whole experience is very eerie, almost ominous and otherworldly. I often found myself thinking of the Alien franchise when listening to this album. A Xenomorph survival soundtrack. Pretty sick.

"Radiant Ignition" was released on tapes by a new label called Vial, you can order them here. Stream both sides down below.

Gemengung / Morgan Hall - Earthen Remains Bloated With Decay

Released by the noise label Abhorrent A.D., "Earthen Remains Bloated With Decay" is a split tape by Greek experimentalist Morgan Hall and Texan (?) noise-maker Gemengung. It's an odd one, because my initial reason for checking out this project was the involvement of Morgan Hall. However, the opening walls of harsh destruction created by Gemengung caught me off guard, and any attempt to approach Morgan Hall's side also proved to be tough. To my surprise, over the last few months I found myself revisiting this split, and somehow I've grown to appreciate it. Gemengung's seven tracks evoke the image of a chemical spill consuming everything in its path. The way he skips between harsh noise on one track and more obscure, lo-fi noise sounds on another works for me, and gives a breather before the assault continues. Morgan Hall's part on the other hand feels more industrial, mechanical, buried under layers of signal drones that seem to blow up any time soon. This tape is definitely not for everyone, but as my noise music tolerance expands, I kinda dig it.

The Implicit Order - Unbeknownst To Me

Anthony is back with a new album from The Implicit Order, and it is something else! Wide ripples of hauntology and sound collage spread across the dark ambient lake that stretches through the ten tracks of "Unbeknownst to Me". Its tense and evocative soundscapes blend seamlessly with sparse and elusive vocal samples drawn from diverse sources, ranging from ghostly choral chants to eerie, intelligible fragments of dialogue. An hour ago, I finished (re)watching Alex Garland's Civil War, and hearing this record straight after made me realise how perfectly it could serve as an alternative soundtrack. Hauntingly addictive LP.

Get this album here. You can also stream it in full below.

STRFLL - 2pretty2rave

"2pretty2rave" is STRFLL's last mixtape for 2024, featuring a ton of reworks, drags and mixes from the man himself. The Souljah Boy remix that appears at the beginning totally got me hooked, but the collabs that STRFLL is showcasing here are insane! Pharmacist, Beauty and Suffer Ring are all top level stuff. Download the mix for free here. So good!

Suffer Ring - Book Of Miracles

"Book Of Miracles", the fourth album from Suffer Ring is their strongest offering yet, further crystallizing the band's unique sound and cementing their position in the dark electronic scene. Inspired by Book Of Miracles, a 16th-century manuscript from Augsburg, Germany, that mirrors spiritual beliefs and fears of its time, the album's songwriting is reflecting visceral emotions lurking in the shadows of modern America. Sonically, Suffer Ring manages to come across as both familiar and experimental in their sound design. In some respects, it's tempting to label "Book Of Miracles" as witch house, however concealed under this shroud is a record bursting at the seams with dark electro and rave-clash energy, paying respect to a plethora of various underground micro-scenes that shape it. The album is packed with potential future classics ("Incel", "Lacerate" and "Victim" are some of my favourites, the latter co-produced by E_DEATH), but I have to admit that Ferngazer stole the show on "Jahil", and the "Not In Love" cover is executed to perfection. With "Book Of Miracles", Suffer Ring reaffirms their appreciation for dark electronic sounds approached in new ways. Give it a spin!

Kutmah - At The Lost Gates (Vol1)

Back in October Kutmah released this beattape/tribute of sorts to Madlib, or to be precise his alter-ego Lord Quas. Featuring quasi-samples, Kutz delivers eleven minimal, chill beats on "At The Lost Gates (Vol1)". Dusty, blunted out productions go hand in hand with some of the most out-there sounds harvested by the producer. One for the 90s hip-hop heads.

Buy the beatape here, stream it after the jump.

Yemen Civil Servant - Silicon Lifeline

"Silicon Lifeline" is one of two physical albums that Yemen Civil Servant released this year (second one being the incredible "Blooming Of Machine Gun Nests"). Originally released in April 2023 by the Nashville-based label Death Pact, and re-released on CD in February this year, the album veers away from noise and power electronics, delving deep into military-grade industrial techno occasionally intertwined with dark ambient soundscapes. Solid, ominous work.

You can still grab yourself a CD here, otherwise stream the album down below.

Summer Film - Please Don't Look Away

Somewhere at the intersection of lo-fi fuzz, mixed field recordings, warped drone tones, and new-age ambient lies Summer Film's offering "Please Don't Look Away". A side project of Greg Nunn, the label owner of Language Instinct, Summer Film's music feels like a series of haunted radio transmissions, each one distinct yet soaked in multiple layers of familiar distortion. This one is a must for a headphone listening session to catch all the intricacies. Great stuff!

Download the album for free here, or better yet, support the label with a donation! Stream it all down below.

BODYXVIII - Closer

Fresh off the press, and likely the final release of the year from the Amulet of Tears label, is "Closer" by BODYXVIII. Layered with textures of field recordings, drones, and dark ambient soundscapes, the record feels eerily suspenseful and creepy. "Panacea" for example, could easily find its way onto a Twin Peaks soundtrack. Although the album's front cover depicts a desolate forest on a hill, the nine tracks in this project evoke the feeling of being composed for an industrial, haunted warehouse, where one can wander disorientedly through various rooms and spaces looking for exit (or survival). BODYXVIII created a great album that feels like it could score a 4D interactive experience.

"Closer" was released on lathe and tape, and you can get them here. Stream all nine tracks down below.

Montoya † - Always & Forever

Montoya's 2024 grind was hard to match. I think STRFLL was on the same level in terms of my blog's coverage, and I still haven't posted all their releases! "Always & Forever" is Montoya's long play for this year, consisting of 11 songs that showcase his sample-flipping beatmaking and rap skills. Emotional witchgaze is all over this release, and with his introspective lyrics Montoya feels like a natural crossover between post-Lil Peep era trap and alt rock. Vibing, not a single weak moment on this record.

Buy the album here, stream it down below.

TR/ST - Performance

It took me longer than expected to blog about Robert's fourth TR/ST album, but I was waiting for my vinyl copy to arrive so I could properly appreciate this piece of art. "Performance" was released by Dais Records in September and co-produced by Teengirl Fantasy's Nick Weiss, aka Nightfeelings. I swear, there aren’t many songwriters out there who manage to create songs that instantly feel like lead singles you’ve heard many times before. In terms of the music, the album's sound sits closer to the first two LPs from TR/ST, with dancefloor-friendly synth-pop and darkwave front and centre. While the lyrics deal with relationship problems, uncertainty, and false signs, the record feels quite universal due to the way Robert sings his lines. It's often hard to understand some of the bars, which, in turn, makes his voice one of the instruments in the bouquet of sounds. It's a wonderfully catchy, punchy and addictive dark alt-pop record, and I cannot recommend it enough. "The Warp" is such a powerful outro by the way!

Purchase the album here, and stream it all below.

Nexus_0 - Sweat

The self-described 'future-facing punk' trio Nexus_0 finally released their debut EP "Sweat" a couple of weeks ago, via London-based label Biodiversity. After playing a string of gigs all over London (and beyond) throughout 2024, the band managed to work on this four-track release as well. The opener, "Green Dynamite", is an adrenaline shot from start to finish, filled to the brim with their unique sound that injects '90s rave energy into the IDGAF attitude of punk-electronica and post-industrial sound design, leaving scorched earth behind. "Part-Time Lover" takes the foot off the gas a notch, and incorporates singing towards the end, nicely contrasting with Sam's shouty vocals. "Gray" is the most surprising cut on the EP, a synth-opera of sorts. I'm not entirely sold on it as part of the story "Sweat" tells sonically. I covered "Pure Luv" a good few months ago, but it’s still a sick track and complements "Green Dynamite" perfectly. Overall - super eclectic introduction by a band that can seriously stir some shit on the scene.

Buy "Sweat" on Bandcamp here, and stream it down below.

Blue Rita - The Electronic Mind Of Blue Rita (The Mater Suspiria Vision Ghost Drone Remixes)

There's a warp in the current timeline, and Mater Suspiria Vision has managed to use it to channel the 2010 witch house era with this record. Blue Rita's "The Electronic Mind Of Blue Rita" gets a classic ghost drone treatment from this haunted house OG act, who bends, distorts, drags, and delays all the originals to their liking. This one is a proper treat for people like me who remember the early months of 2010 and what followed. I absolutely love this neo-nostalgic album.

Get the digital here. There's some CD copies left here too. Stream all down below.

STRFLL - Pretty Rave Girl

STRFLL has been incredibly prolific this year, and I'm still trying to catch up with everything he's put out. "Pretty Rave Girl" is his DJ mix that dropped in September, and features a ton of sick remixes of tracks from Darren Styles, Mount Sims, Snow Strippers, Salem, Waka Flocka Flame, White Ring and Burial. Essential listening. Download and stream here.

Human Hollow - Keep The TV On (Lullaby Version)

Human Hollow has released a stripped-down (aka lullaby) version of their amazing single "Keep The TV On". While it doesn't beat the original, it remains an interesting and rather far-out sonic experience nonetheless. Get it here.

Ritualz - Believe In Me

Ritualz unexpectedly released a new single today, along with the announcement of his upcoming album "Mimic", which is set to be released on February 4th via Re:mission Entertainment. "Believe In Me" is a cover of Lenny Kravitz's single from his 2001 album "Lenny". JC has added a solid dose of distorted guitars and industrial polish to the original, making it his own with ease. Like his previous maxi-singles, "Believe In Me" also comes in slowed and sped-up versions, as well as with an instrumental.

Get the CD single here, and stream all the versions below.

ℑ⊇≥◊≤⊆ℜ X Проклятая Реальность - ℑ⊇≥◊≤⊆ℜ Remixes

ℑ⊇◊≤⊆ℜ, the twiseted/screwed alter-ego of Cosmotropia de Xam, took on the task of remixing two singles from Проклятая Реальность. The result is two completely different takes on the folky Russian witch house. "Тени прошлого (ℑ⊇≥◊≤⊆ℜ Shatterbrain Mix)" is a 9-minute long dragged ambient edit of the opening song from the debut EP, which still manages to echo the original with the use of vocal samples. The second track "Сон Ха́нзелю и Гретель (Zombie Rave Remix)" seems to be an unreleased composition, and embraces the zombie rave remix approach. While I'm a big fan to zombie edits, this one feels a bit soulless.

Grab both tracks here, and stream them after the jump.

De Duivelse Zusters - Symfonie Voor De Duivel

The year 2024 marked the full-scale arrival of AI in music. Curating it and tailoring it to one's needs requires time, attention, and the courage to push boundaries. Cosmotropia de Xam achieved this spectacularly with his latest side project, De Duivelse Zusters. Their debut LP "Symfonie voor de Duivel", produced by Mater Suspiria Vision and released under the New Music Order banner, is a trippy, haunted and daring expedition into the imaginary world of possessed cult music and faux-found field recordings. Imagine feeding a computer recordings with exorcisms of Emily Rose, video footage of the Jonestown massacre, and early concepts of the witch house genre, and you might get something resembling the mind-fuckery of this album. A psychedelic ride from start to finish, it's an experience that will linger with you for hours after listening.

You can purchase CDs on Big Cartel, get the digital album here, and stream it in full down below.

Blue Rita - The Electronic Mind Of Blue Rita

Blue Rita, is the first AI entity in the New Music Order series of the Phantasma Disques label. Whether the whole LP was created with AI software or not, I can't lie - "The Electronic Mind Of Blue Rita" is kinda catchy, in a guilty pleasure italo-disco way. Dubbed "a psychedelic italo disco concept album", the record is likely the most pop-focused entry in the Phantasma Disques catalogue, even though it was produced by Mater Suspiria Vision. The first half is definitely stronger, melodic and easier on the ear; once the Dan-E track comes on, I feel like the album loses its momentum. The lyrics are campy as hell, and the melodies are quite addictive; however, the whole record sounds really flat, like it was downloaded from Last.fm at 128 kbps or ripped from Myspace back in the day. I have a feeling that if the album were given a proper mix and master, it would've been way better.

Get the album on CD here, and stream it all on Bandcamp down below.

Coffin Kids - Crypt Walking In My Deer Skin

"Gold Fang$", the single that promoted this EP from Philly-based duo Coffin Kids, really got me hyped back in April. However, the full six-track EP "Crypt Walking In My Deer Skin" feels like a missed opportunity in my opinion. Where Coffin Kids really shine is the slower, drag-rap tracks ("Gold Fangs" and "Pentagram Around My Neck"). These emit a rare crypt-hop energy that's so scarce in the current iteration of the witch house scene. Unfortunately, these two tracks are paired with more predictable, trap-leaning mainstream witch house, which - while well-crafted - lacks originality.

Check out the EP here, and stream it below.

Zheng - Zero Time

I've had this EP on my hard drive for nine months, but only today I managed to sit down and give it a spin. Zheng is the alias of UK-based musician Jamie Walker, described by the label (Curses' Ombra Intl) as "dungeon-acid grunge punk artist". But this description may fool you a bit, because "Zero Time" is a curious mix of dubby trip-hop and industrial punk (in the vein of Nexus_0). Its dark and brooding basslines will get you nodding along.

Cop the EP here, and peep all the track below.

E_Death - Archive Vol.2

Back in March, Salem has unleashed a mighty archive of her unreleased projects, consisting of albums, mixtapes and DJ mixes. It was a godsent for all her fans. Since then, she has released a second volume of the "Archive" series, once again filled with a ton of rare and incredible music. In the download folder you'll find "Delayed Grief" and "Seasons" mixtapes, EPs "Eternal_01" and "Summr'24", as well as alt version of her album "Forgotten Realms (Stripped)". No streaming links for this one, I'm sure some of those releases will end up on YouTube at some point. In the meantime, you can download it all here.

Stay Bless - A Strange Kind Of Paradise

I blogged about Stay Bless' "The Other Side Of Paradise" project earlier this year, which is a companion album to "A Strange Kind of Paradise" that came out all the way back in January. Like its follow, this record also consists of random improvisations and songwriting sketches collected by George over the last three years. Short and sweet collection of fleeting dream pop moments, leftfield r&b and warm easy listening soundscapes. I would love to hear fully developed "Really Be" for example, or the expanded version of smooth "Rooftop Garden" grooves.

Download the whole project here, and stream it after the jump.

Joseph Randolph - Residual Charge

Joe's "Residual Charge" single came out over the Summer, but somehow I failed to blog about it. Catching up now, and it's worth it. The track is an eclectic mash-up of smokey hip-jazz piano + bass combo and IDM-like glitchtronica. This makes me think of Hydeout's Jemapur mixed with Afta-1 for some reason. Unique stuff. Grab it here.

CH Rom - Ouroboros Hotline

CH Rom is back with a new post-internet sonic bomb entitled "Ouroboros Hotline And Other Favorites From The Declassified White Dreads Reggae-Kraut Pirate-Bop Un-World Music Canon". After the wonderfully wild "It's The CH Rom Band" LP, recorded with a plenthora of equally untamed creative friends, Charley has delivered a solo EP (?) that basks in this peak-Myspace era oddity ooze - imagine James Ferraro, Pee-wee Herman and Chuck Person had a bastard child who was into funk. Love this project to bits, truly original stuff. And to top it all off, we also get a groovy, club-leaning remix of the titular track by C Powers.

Don't sleep on this one, download it here, and stream all the tracks below.

A Large Sheet Of Muscle - Dracula Completo

The infamous all-caps noise poet Louis Johnstone aka Wanda Group aka Dem Hunger developed yet another new alias for his twisted sound sculpting. Under the guise A Large Sheet Of Muscle he released "Dracula Completo" in October on vinyl and tape, with help from The Trilogy Tapes. Mutant electronics, musique concrète, anti-folk singing, screwed samples and more are squeezed on this "box of chocolates"-type of release. I've actually quite enjoyed this record, it's more melodic in comparison to some of his more recent albums, and has this Dem Hunger-y lo-fi feel embedded too. Worth giving this one a go.

Last records and tapes are available here, hurry before they're gone for good. Otherwise, you can stream and download the LP here, and stream it all below.

Clearing - Girl, Skin, Breath, Sweat

Joe Volmer wraps up 2024 with a new offering from Clearing. "Girl, Skin, Breath, Sweat" is a 13-tracks deep album filled with lo-fi ambient, earthy drone and glimmering synth tones. Joe has managed to compose those delicate, fairly minimal sounds that somehow manage to fill the space with their arrangements and depth at the same time. I'm really liking this one, good relaxing music.

Cop the album here, stream it all below.

Field Designer - How To Care For Your Venus Fly Trap

First of all, the title of this album brings joy to my eyes. "How To Care For Your Venus Fly Trap" is the latest project from Field Designer, head honcho of Language Instinct label. Buried under layers of faded noise transmissions and wonky aural paraphernalia lies this blissful ambient concrète record, which feels like a cabinet of curiosities from another dimension. Engaging, surprising and eclectic, it will make you wonder what's next at every turn. Love it.

You can download "How To Care For..." here, and stream it below.

Arthur King - UMN (Five Summer Stories)

Arthur King and the AKP crew triumph once again with their latest instalment of the Unknown Movie Night series, this time live-rescoring the surf cult classic "Five Summer Stories". It still blows my mind that, for the purpose of this event, neither the audience nor the band knows what movie will be played until it begins. For "UMN (Five Summer Stories)", the AK line-up consisted of Mark Kimbrell, David Ralicke, Chuck Soo-Hoo, Joel Virgel, and Peter Walker. The result is a leftfield, trippy, ambient-like odyssey, occasionally sprinkled with vocalisations that enhance the mysterious mood of the recording. It's easy to get lost in those tracks, I'd love to experience this particular event/score in person.

Get the album on limited edition tapes here, and stream it below.

Chayn Sloth & Pale Palace - New Queen

I posted about this single from Chayn Sloth and Pale Palace a while ago, but today we got a visualizer on youtube. Download the track here.

Meadow Argus - Zoom

Meadow Argus is the alias of Tynan Krakoff, an experimental drone musician from Columbus, Ohio, whom I discovered while browsing one of Bluesky's starter packs. His latest album "Zoom" is a 72-minute dive into various organ tones processed through a tape player, drifting slowly and effortlessly through a lo-fi path to the unknown. Unrushed and steady, drone on!

Check the album out here (there are limited edition tapes too!). Otherwise you can stream it down below.

LOUDPCK - Blammo

Evil noise transmissions out of Blamerica, courtesy of LOUDPCK aka SKELETONKIDS. Uncompromising, industrial hip-hop, seeping through layers of gritty noise and inspired by current affairs in the US of A. Fuck the systmem (but also kindly support the artist here).

Pharmacist & Pale Palace - Cry Out

Two of my favourite producers right now decided to work together on this mellow joint above. "Cry Out", produced by Pale Palace using a sample supplied by Pharmacist, is a lo-fi cloud-rap beat - an instrumental I could imagine ASAP Rocky dropping bars over. Gnarly stuff that you can download for free right here.

Morgve - Seed Of Dissension

It struck me today that I have a backlog of three Morgve albums to blog about. These two are insanely prolific! "Seed of Dissension" came out towards the end of November last year, following "Indømito". While the previous record leaned towards the faster and more melodic end of their discography, "SOD" swings the pendulum to the opposite side of the mood spectrum. Heavy slabs of droning soundscapes are paired with gloomy synths, industrial sound design and hauntingly spellbinding vocals of Nadia, creating a mixture of oozing dark ambience, experimental witch house, and razor-sharp trap beats. On "Seed Of Dissension" Morgve are no longer audio terrorists, but rather heralds of darkness.

Support the underground and get this album here. Stream it down below.

Anasisana - Transmogrify

Fascinating contemporary ambient record from Tbilisi-based producer and composer Anas Aissaoui aka Anasisana. "Transmogrify" is his debut album on Amulet of Tears, a rich blend of ambient soundscapes and droning textures that contribute to a vivid listening experience. From the early moments of "Reasoning", I felt like I was being transported to a tall forest, observing a predator slowly hunting its prey, and the feelings on anxiety, determination, and calmness are all embedded in the tracks that follow. To some degree, it reminds me of Ben Frost's epic "By The Throat". One to get lost in.

The album was released on super limited lathe records (sold out) and tape. Get the latter one here. Stream in full below.

V.A. - Language Instinct: Our Nature.

One of my favourite new labels, Language Instinct, released their first compilation yesterday - collecting 21 songs that represent the imprint and sum up their 2024 schedule. From fragmented tape loops and cinematic drone soundscapes to textural ambient noise and captivating field recordings, "Out Nature." offers something for every fan of contemporary experimental music. I am still in the process of exploring their impressive discography, but some highlights from this year include Field Designer's "Anthropology", BODYXVIII's "Slow Flashing Light", Summer Film's "Please Don't Look Away" and Modernist's "Pathetic Decisions". However, there's still so much more I haven't checked! I cannot encourage you enough to follow them for future releases.

Download the compilation for free here, or better yet support the label and buy their discography! Alternatively, you can stream the release down below.

Smokey Emery - Licking Blood From A Spoon/ Squealing And Mewling

Smokey Emery is the alias of LA-based experimental producer Daniel Hipólito (and a co-founder of Black Porno Cassette). After a string of releases on cult labels such as Holodeck, Somatic and No Kings, Daniel decided to drop his latest three-track project on his newly minted imprint Qui Mal. The EP kicks off with "Licking Blood From A Spoon", which sounds like a ritual ambient and dungeon synth crossover, sneakily recorded during a mystical ceremony. "Squealing And Mewling" on the other hand feels trippier, a Twin Peaks-like hypnagogic desert drone piece that will have you nodding along in a trance. The third track "Shaking The Frame" is blocked from streaming at the time of writing, but based on the two cuts above, I'll be ordering this little gem anyway (it's actually released on 3" CD!). There was a lathe version planned for this release, but I believe it was scrapped.

Cop the CD version here, and stream the two available compositions down below.

Human Hollow - Static

I've been eagerly anticipating Human Hollow's debut EP "Static" ever since discovering the dark synth-pop duo out in the wild a few months ago. In addition to the three already-released singles (covered on the pages of this blog), the EP includes two new tracks, "Another Nightmare" and "Old Haunts", which perfectly complement its themes of reclaiming space, identity, and relationships. I love the fact that "Static" feels like a trully collaborative effort, with both Austin and Luna sharing vocal and production duties. An amazing, future-facing debut that should appeal to fans of ethereal synth-pop and modern darkwave.

You can purchase the EP here, and listen to it in full below.

Oklou - Choke Enough (Pharmacist Icebox Edit)

Lush and dragged muffled-ambient remix of Oklou's single "Choke Enough", immaculately edited Pharmacist. So much better than the hyper-minimal original. Download it for free here.

STRFLL - Relapse

After the incredible remix of Stay Healthy's "@@@", Estonian power duo STRFLL and Dyvour team up for a new original cut entitled "Relapse". Murky, witch-hop beat delivers volleys of hi-hats and thumping bass, and serves as a gnarly backdrop for the syrupy doom-rap. Dope stuff, download it here.

Yemen Civil Servant - Blooming Of Machine Gun Nests

I was randomly exploring the discography of Black Artifact when I came across this album by Texas-based experimental noise/industrial musician Yemen Civil Servant. "Blooming of Machine Gun Nests" is his third release for the label and arguably his most elaborate work. Growling harsh noise walls clash with cinematic drone soundscapes, while fragmented industrial arrangements relentlessly crash against dark ambient tones. The listening experience brings both relief with its quite moments and buckets of anxiety and horror when the worlds collide. A powerful record that reveals something new with every listen.

The CD is sold out at source, but the artist has a few last copies here. Stream the whole album below.

Cementation Anxiety - Agnosiareign

Cementation Anxiety is an alias of New Jersey-based experimental musician and producer Kyle Nelson. His releases have been popping up all over my feed due to his recent collaborations with Nouvelle Gaze, Black Artifact, Trust Collective, Somatic, Amulet of Tears, and many more. "Agnosiareign" is his most recent project, beautifully released by Black Artifact, consisting of nine compositions that inhabit the blurry and often fluid zone between ambient and drone. Agnosia is a neurological condition where a person cannot recognise objects, sounds, smells, shapes, or people, despite normal sensory function. The album sounds like a soundtrack to the empty corridors of the psyche of a mental asylum patient—often calm and tranquil, but sometimes weathered by storms of anxiety and uncertainty.

There's tapes and CDs on label's Bandcamp here. You can stream the album down below.

Sleepingprayer - Glisten

Sleepingprayer (Niamh Isabelle aka Kentucky Bambi) showed up on my radar a few months ago, after the in-cre-di-ble collabortion with STRFLL on his latest single "Forget". Yesterday, she shared her new song "Glisten" on her socials, so it feels fitting to properly introduce her music on this blog. "Glisten" stands apart from the rest of her Soundcloud work, shifting away from ethereal ambient sounds and embracing heavier drone elements, further intensified by witch-house-like synths. Exciting new face on the scene that I'll follow closely from now on. Stream the single here.

The Implicit Order - Cruel When Complete - Skeletons From A Homespunners Closet

"Cruel When Complete - Skeletons From A Homespunners Closet" is a collection of rare and unreleased compositions by The Implicit Order. These 15 tracks are "just" a droplet in his vast discography, which spans decades, yet they serve as an excellent introduction to his world of electronic manipulations. Covering dark ambient, hauntology, industrial, drone, sound collage, and musique concrète, this experimental compilation—if given a proper chance—can help you switch off and drift into TIO's esoteric realm. However, beware: there will be some heavy and truly scary moments along the way.

Download the album here, and stream it after the jump.

A.W.I.P. - Chasing Down Demons

Imagine Dean Blunt trying his hand at vaporwave, AFTA-1 experimenting with dark jazz, or Oneohtrix Point Never exploring hypnagogic beatmaking. "Chasing Down Demons" is all that and more. This trans-Pacific collaboration between Oakland's Trae Casey (aka Poolside Nightmare) and Melbourne's Nicholas Ives (aka NC Ives) finds the duo questioning the rigid boundaries of music theory while injecting a healthy dose of fluidity into their productions. Roll the genre dice and see where they land. An eclectic release for eclectic times. Out now on limited edition cassettes via San Diego label Addendum.

Dracula Party - Trick Or Treat 2

A bit of an off-topic start: there’s an indie netlabel/project called Pumpkin Boy, which gathers musicians from Grand Rapids, Michigan, to create a yearly Halloween-themed compilation called "Songs of the Pumpkin Boy". These albums are all over the place stylistically, yet they capture a distinctive vibe that came to mind the moment I hit play on this new single from Dracula Party (Byron C. Miller and Chris Schism). "Trick Or Treat 2" the name, and slasher synthwave is the game. Fun track, it's a shame I came across it so late though! Download the single here.

Ourobonic Plague - Crumbs [EP 2]

Part two in the techno-influenced EP series from Ourobonic Plague. "Crumbs [EP 2]" picks up the pace where EP1 left off, starting with a droning, industrial-like transmission called "The Plan", which leads the listener into the underground club sounds of the next four cuts. "Coro Del Caos" is my personal favourite here—an addictively dark and minimal song. The release concludes with a mirrored track "nalP ehT", which stylistically takes us back to square one with its machine drone chant.
